RT game time

Postby sammy324 on Wed Nov 21, 2007 2:35 pm

Well, I'm not premium, and as much as I like this site, I don't have the financial ability to upgrade anytime soon. So, because I can't play a speed game, I'm stuck with searching for RT games in the live chat forum, which is a little bit harder now that most RT players are playing speed games.

All of that really doesn't have to do with my question. How much time, in general, should I allow for a RT game? Usually I won't start one with less than 3 hours avaliable, but sometimes I don't have that much, or something comes up, and I have to leave, and the other players are justifiably upset. How much time is enough to say, "hey guys, this has been a good game, but it's been X hours, and now I really want to go to bed, can we pick this up later?" without getting yelled at for ruining a RT?

Personally, i think that if you have played for an hour, then you would be justified in calling it a day if you wanted to.

Let people know in chat why you are leaving. Some people will still get angry, and write things like IF YOU PLAY AN RT THEN YOU PLAY TO THE END but thats life.

Also, the size of the map comes in to play as well. When I'm at work and can only allot 30 minutes or so for a game, I'll start up a 3-4 player game on Doodle Earth.

Or, if I know I have more time, I might start one, or join one, on the Classic Map. You really have to weigh how much time you think you have with the number of players, cards, and map size.

Ie. If you don't have a lot of time, don't join a Speed or RT game on World 2.1 with 6 players and no cards.

for me i always expect that a rt game will last at least an hour and a half, and usually alot at least 2 hours.

however that also depends on what type of game you are playing
if you are playing flat rate, it may take longer. or if you are playing with only 3 or 4 ppl, it will probably go faster.

Thanks all for your feedback, and I will take it all into account in future RT games.
