Noob proofing CC

Ok, I was a ? player once myself, and I respect and appreciate that I got to play with the big boys. But come on, there are SO MANY new players who register, start a game and NEVER COME BACK. What a nuisance.

Someone else in a game suggested that the question marks should only be allowed to play with each other. This would be trivial to program. Once you get thru your initial games you'll be whatever rank and then can play with everyone else. Otherwise, it just ruins public games and we end up with two conquer clubs, one played in 'secret' and one played in public.

Just my 2 cents worth, and I suppose you want change with that? ;)

yes, definitely.

And an eject button for morons would be great too.

No, they already aren't allowed to play team games with us "big boys", which I was against, and now you're saying that they aren't allowed to play with us at all. We want to welcome new members, not tell them they can't play with over half the CC population.

if they were forced to play only ?'s then player retention would drop ridiculously because ppl would assume that deadbeating is a much bigger problem than it is and would want to stay.

Since when aren't they allowed in team games? I have had several in team games with ME and that's what got me thinking about this. Or is this some VERY recent change I don't know about? A quick perusal of joinable games shows several ?'s in team games, so just what are you talking about Hecter?

They can't join team games. They can start them, but not join them.

I would like to add assasin games to the things noobs cannot join, because any deadbeat in an assasin game really throws the whole thing off.

Listen to Wac!

find some magnificence in your souls and remember what it was like on your first day of school!

Perhaps then you may avoid always following the path too often trod... Perhaps then you can avoid becoming who you hated on that first day of school.

Newbies are fine

It takes awhile to figure out how the CC rules and games work...just be patient with the newbies. Some will try it out, not like it and leave, but many more will learn the ropes and be long-time members. By playing against more experienced players, they have the opportunity to learn the ropes faster. I appreciated all the tips and strategies I absorbed when I first came on here several months ago and now I'm hooked.

I always open myself up to answer questions any time I'm facing a question mark. It's not like it happens that terribly often. If you want to avoid the ?s use the Join a Game feature and only join against more experienced players.

new players

Geeze, you guys would think I was talking about illegal immigration ;)

Ok, the mob has spoken. I'll admit the game in question is one where a bunch of ?'s joined US, apparently before the new rule went into effect. Naturally they ALL deadbeated the whole game, making it a drag on the rest of us. Also since I play a lot of standard games, the ?'s join AFTER I do, making it difficult to avoid them. My worst was a game with 3 ?'s who ALL deadbeated the whole game (I think I was green that game, so they all came afterwards).

How about this, the deadbeat rule is accelerated when the player is a question mark?

that would help.

accelerating it would help a lot.

Noobs are a part of the system and many of the (?)s actually play quite well.
I'd rather see players booted from the game if they miss their first turn.

Why not take it from a noobs perspective?

:) I can fill you guys in on that btw ^.^

Sure, it's a pain in the rear to get whooped by someone with a much better strategy then you. HOWEVER, It's a learning experience, you notice what the better players are doing you either figure out a way to counter it or mimic it :P

As for dead-beating noobers, why stick them all in one spot so it turns into an even bigger problem? Personally I don't want to get into a game, get 3 turns in and then realize i'm the only one ACTUALLY playing. Having maybe just one dead-beater in a game is a little less dramatic.

If you still feel that it's such a horrible thing, why not improvise? Perhaps have OPTIONAL ( keyword here lol ) settings for the lowest rank that can join a game? That way if you don't want to play with the newbies, you don't have to. ( Were not that bad though, are we? )

I for one like deadbeats and newbs. Makes me take turns more spaced out, and I don't like working my brain. yes, I'm lazy, but eh.
