Three player strategy

Does anyone have a sound general strategy for 3 player games?

I like them because normally one doesn't have to wait 2 days to take a turn but I am getting beaten down. I recently won my first 3 player game out of about 10, 3 player games I've played and I'm pretty sure it was just dumb luck.

Any help?

if you can, try to make yourself look weak, this is what i do and then the other players hit eachother and i sweep in for win.

or my more commonly used tactic... dont let them get easy territories off of you. this is the most effective strat especially in circus maximus. what it means is dont let them attack any 1's of yours if you can help it, even spreading out to make 2's works well

Thanks Herakilla

When you say try to make yourself look weak do you mean spread your forces out among your territories? For instance instead of putting a 20 armies at your borders spread them out putting 5 or 7 armies on each territory?

not so much as spreading out as not exactly doing all that you could and making things look like you are doing your best effort to do them

start cursing one of the players and then say the other guy hacked your account and cursed.

start writing things like:

alsjd$#@!DSn#%09USRG

then laugh for a while with loooong laughs like this:

:))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

after that post links of really weird images like:

a water hose filled with worms
a bear in shorts
a piece of horse poo with a rose in it

deadbeat for 2 turns.

come back and say the devil stole your soul but you traded your prized collection of teletubbies and got it back.

at this point they'll either abbandon the game or take you for some kind of lunatic and ignore you.

if this method doesn't work then just kill the guys.

good luck.

sweet, I'm totally set now especially since I DO have a prized collection of teletubbies.

I knew they might come in handy some day.

Look out three player games, here I come.

3 players

It also helps to partner with people that know what the hell there doing.... try not to piss off your partners, and communicate well.... If none of that works, go back to 3 and 4 player singles games......lol

Also try to have both players as "friends". You basically need to convince them to hit each other and not you until you are strong enough to take on both of them at the same time. Not an easy task.

I've got a decent 3 man esc record (about the only one) maybe I should stick to them. Anyway- stay aggressive and go after a bonus (SA/Aussie whichever you dropped the most in) but never try to stop them from one or break theirs. Keep it well protected ( but never locking yourself in- always have a lead country to attack)- Try to pick up the first card or maneuver yourself to be 1 card ahead of atleast 1 of the 2 players. Try not to be the one last to cash- not try, dont be the last person to cash. After you've secured yourself really well ( i say this because youre so close in proximity to the other 2 players) then spread out as much as you can, picking up alot of countries (1s mostly- after they've forted out) By the 7th/8th round or so, you should be picking up a continent bonus and 5-6 country army reinforcements. Meanwhile build 3-4 countries around the map in preparation for a killl shot. Build and stay out of everyone's way until the cash is large enough to take your target ( player you're ahead of by 1 card) out with a mid-turn cash ( atleast 5 cards in your possession after taking the player out.)

Three player games can always be balanced so no one wins or that it will take a long time to finish.

Effectively you just have to be in the middle, not too strong and not too weak. If you become too strong, the other two will gang up against you and if you become too weak you may get eliminated by one of the others in exchange for your cards.

Staying in the middle isn't that easy though. If you cash cards and you realised that you don't have enough to eliminate a player, then you need to use them enough so that when you look at the stats you will be in the middle.

Of course you need to make all the correct tactical moves and you cannot afford to make a single mistake. When the card values goes really up, a single mistake can lead to elimination, so think carefully, and always go for the kill.

Three player games tend to fall into a stalemate. The best strategy I’ve found is to maneuver one of your opponents in between you and your other opponent. This does two things, first it forces the guy in the squeeze to defend against two players, and second, it prevents one of your opponents from attacking you. After the guy in the squeeze gets knocked out you can get it heads up and go for the win.

Spline does what I try to do, but most top players will always target the middle person and most players that suck enough to be the bottom person won't know any better and attack you both equally.

Well Coleman, if the weak player attacks both and the strong player attacks the middle player, then who ends up winning? I would say, still the middle player may have a chance because he is engaged with only one player and is stronger than the weak player. Interesting isn't it.

Sigh my strategy, is and I highly recomend this for the NEW PLAYER is.
DO NOT PLAY 3 PLAYER GAMES. It really works for me I no longer lose points to secret alliances or stupid moves on my part. try it you will feel better about it too....

My secret strategy stay weak, make other 2 fight each other than kill, or if escalating become strongest fast and then kill.

after thinking hard, i have decided that for me the best strategy is to be EXTREMELY aggressive toward both players, just more so toward the stronger one of the two. works well for no cards

it depends on the settings. if your drop allows you to stay away from the other two players, do that. being weak is good, just make sure you dont look weak enough to take out in one turn, cuz if someone even tries, you die. you have to be aggressive, because you have to know that if the other two team up on you, they will take you down. almost always. you need to keep the other guys aware of how weak you are, and remind them of the other guy's strategy.

I just go with what area i have and then push out. One game my opponates attacked eachother as i became stronger. So just wait and build up your armies and then attack. Try and get some bonuses.

Gang up

3 player games depends on which 2 gang up on the third. Usually the 2 weakest team up against the strongest player. Kind of a shame on how it turns out sometimes.
