One year ago today

This time last year, a younger, more innocent Incandenza, blissfully unaware of the capriciousness of random.org's dice, wandered across some site called Conquer Club that appeared to offer online risk games. Intrigued, he joined. Unfortunately, due to the fact that he's an impulsive douche, he did not read up on the limitations of a free account. Thus, thinking that he could just wander in and start joining games like he owned the place, young Incandenza just started clicking on games.
I ended up in three no cards games, one of which would last for four plus months, and a triples game: two other noobs and I against Blitz and a couple of his cronies at the time.
Despite the bumpy start, I came to enjoy it here, and have since played more than a few games and climbed more than a few rungs on the scoreboard ladder. I remember all the close victories, and the close defeats are seared into my consciousness to the point that I have bad dreams about white dice that constantly roll sixes.
And, most importantly, thru the forums, mafia, and the games themselves, I've met some damn cool people that I'm glad to be able to call friends.
So many thanks to lack and his crack team for creating, maintaining, repairing, and updating the place. And thanks to all of you, the gamers, posters, cartographers, flamers, and other assorted folk who really make CC what it is: a damn fun place to waste unfathomable amounts of time playing a game with little real-world application against people one will probably never meet face-to-face.
Here's to a year of CC. Now I'm off to the bar, to have drinks alone since I don't have time for friends, family, or the opposite sex.
