Points And What Gets Them

I've noticed that I sometimes win more or less points for a game. I read the scoring topic in the instructions, which says points are awarded by the formula (loser's score / winner's score) * 20.
Exactly what gets a person the score? How could I minimize my score and maximize a loser's score so as to get more points?

I think you are misunderstanding. Score is equivalent to their rank.

You can minimize your score by losing a lot. There's no other way to do it.
And you cannot maximize someone elses score, you can only try to play against players who already have a high score in order to win more points from them than from someone with a low score.

If you win against a high rank, you get more points than if you win a low rank. THe opposite applies. If you going to lose, make it a loss to a high rank to minimise your point loss.
If you care about points.

Don't play to lose to a high ranked player! Play to win!

No problem. Thats why the beast has come to CC.
but yeah, simply put, you arent addressed points based on how fast you win or how dominant you are in the game, if that were the case, it would severly alter people's strategies, you would see people who have clearly lost become entirely trapped in the game because other players would try to have as many armies on the board as possible before the end.
In the end what matters is the win, you can win in 2 rounds or in 102 rounds, you can have 50 guys left over or 5000 guys left over. So long as you get that lovely sentence telling you you have eliminated your opponent, you will get the points alotted to you from the win.
What can YOU do to maximise incoming score? You can always try to join multiplayer games. Knowing that in standard only 1 player will get your points anyway, you can have a fairly interesting return on your investment if you win a multi player game. Alot of players find 4 player games to be worth the risk... you still stand a good chance of hitting a dominating position early on and really only have a few obstacles to overcome...
That said, I dont recommend joining 6 player games on doodle earth hehe. But yeah, wanna make more points? Play as many games as you can with multiple players, you may lose a few more, but if you win even a few, 1 win could make up for a couple of losses.
