Encouraging Premium

Now I know the mods want people to pay for premium, and they do a number of things to do that. However speed games is the most disputed of all. I know that if they get rid of speed games as part of the premium package, they're going to want to add something else. So here's my suggestion: Make speed games available to everyone, BUT make all large maps, such as world 2.1 and mibi's hopefully-to-be-quenched supermax prison riot only accessible to premium members. Hopefully people will talk about World 2.1 in the forums enough so that nonpremium members will want to try it by paying for premium.

Thoughts? Or am I just an asshole?

You're an asshole.

If you want premium, sign up for a poker site or something similar, collect the gift money you get for joining, get a paypal account, transfer the money there, buy premium.

For most freebies, having speed games would give them no incentive to pay for premium. Speed games end so quickly it would be virtually the same as having an unlimited number of games, and being able to play more is the #1 reason for people to get premium.

it would also take up so much bandwidth, that the rest of the paying customers would actually suffer.... $20 is nothing if youre serious about the game....if you are serious...you can find a way

Idiot. Sites don't give away 20 dollars for joining. You can try poker, but then there will be that little Catch where you have to play cash games for many hours to be able to cash out that 20 dollars or get it in the first place, by that time, the 50 dollars you spent to join it will likely be gone anyway, and you'd have lost money.

There are sites, like MOOLA where you can make money (i've made around 12 USD), or ones where you get paid for taking surveys, clicking advertisements, or searching on their search engines (like OpinionSurvey, Clickz2Cash, MoneyJet, etc). But nothing is as easy as getting 20 dollars for doing nothing. Most any site will require, in the very least, a couple hours of your time, at which point, you'll be getting paid less that the minimum wage in the United States.

true but in many countries the minimum wage from US represents a small fortune. in my country there are people that work 12 hours a day and get as little as 100-150$ each month.

Sponsoring Members

If they do not have one already, maybe Conquer Club could set up a pool for people to dontate memberships for other people? That way maybe someone who could afford two memberships could share with someone else the benefits of membership? I have a StumbleUpon membership and they have a system where people can buy (sponsor) memberships for other people if they want to. They even have a forum for people to state their case to be sponsored for membership. If there is a system for this already is there a link to it? I have yet been unable to find it.

Oh the world owes me a living
Deedle dardle doodle deedle dum
Oh the world owes me a living
Deedle dardle doodle deedle dum

If I worked hard all day I might
Sleep bad'der when in bed at night
I sleep all day so that's alright
Deedle dardle doodle deedle dum

There once was an old grasshopper
Who could only think of fun
He looked on work as something too
Unpleasant to be done

He loved to sit in the summer sun
And fiddle all day long
While dozing there he played this air
And singed this little song

The north wind blew the leaves away
When winter came one stormy day
The snow fell fast upon the ground
No food nor shelter could be found

This old grasshopper sad and weak
Could hardly hop or view his feet
He slipped, He fell
Poor Chap, Farewell

Some ants stayed in their hilly home
Looked out and saw him sneezing
They soaked his feet in mustard sauce
He grew better soon
Now every day they hear him play
And sing this little tune

Oh I owe the world a living
Deedle dardle doodle deedle dum, ah-choo!
Oh I owe the world a living
Deedle dardle doodle deedle dum, ah-choo!

I got a bad cold in my head
You ants were right the time you said
You've got to work for all you get
Deedle dardle doodle deedle dum, ah-choo

You aren't an asshole, just it is a bad idea. I don't have premium, and yes it would be nice to play speed games, but world 2.1 is one of my fav maps, so I would not like to have to pay for it.

I have had a few tourneys with premium as the prize. I think it is better for it to be earned than just give it away.....

As I earn extra money on wacicha's deals Ebay account i do a tourney. should be a new one In October

i think world 2.1 is the worst map out there. I bought premium to play more than 4 games.

No maps would make me pay.

No, there has to be a clear difference between free and premium. While I realise there are a lot of students on this site that can't afford premium or cant pay for it with a credit card or whatever, thats no reason to reduce the benefits of those who pay and thus contribute to the site. There's lots of students that can't afford a Porsche either.

I pay for two reasons. Firstly to pay more than 4 games at a time. Secondly, to reward and give a contribution a site that gives me enjoyment.

As maps are made by volunteers it would be immoral for lack to charge people for playing them.....unless of course he paid the map makers
