For those of you who know what IRC is, and use it, i have created an IRC channel for Conquer Club on the server QuakeNet. it is called #ConquerClub . authing is mandatory for channel, so check out http://www.quakenet.org for authing info. Mods will be given @. Here is a small guide to IRC:

IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is a very popular service mainly used for chatting on the Internet. All you need is an IRC client and use this client to connect to an IRC Server. There are several clients available. The most popular for Windows is mIRC and we recommend you start with that client.

Download mIRC from http://www.mirc.com and install it. Now you have to connect to a server. The official ConquerClub channel is located on QuakeNet, a game related IRC network. Start mIRC and use the scrollbar under IRC Network to find QuakeNet: Random server. Supply your information and click on the Connect to IRC Server button.

I recommend getting an auth for quakenet, this allows you to join the channels that only allow authed people and also be recognized by bots on quakenet, you need an auth to get on #ConquerClub . To get an auth go to http://www.quakenet.org/faq/faq.php?c=1&f=51#51 and follow the directions.

You're now connected to QuakeNet, which consists of several thousands of channels, mostly game related ones, and hopefully you have an auth as well. To join our channel type /join #ConquerClub

If everything went well you're now visiting our official ConquerClub channel, chatting with many other players and of course, the ConquerClub Crew. Have Fun!

For more information about the QuakeNet network, visit http://www.quakenet.org.

Sure I will join, however, is this an official channel? I mean is it endorsed/approved by lackattack?

probably not, in which case everyone should wait for a moderator to acknowledge the endorsement of lack, or lack himself endorse it before downloading any software :!:

You can trust mirc, I've used it in tghe past (with nonamescript). You can also get Pidgin (formerly gaim), ChatZilla, and x-chat, to name just a few alternatives.

I am not aware of any other chat endorsed by Conquer Club, other than that of the Live Chat located in the Interaction Menu on the left side panel.

I use mIRC all the time. It is relatively safe unless you install unknown scripts or execute unknown commands, however, it is classified as riskware.

It's definitley unofficial, but great initiative.

If you know any chat based scripting you might consider dropping andy or lack a line and seeing if you can help improve some of the stuff the on-site chat has.

I tried running an IRC chan back before chat came up on-site, it's hard to keep people in it if they dont know people will be there, that will be your biggest challenge perhaps.

The biggest problem will be impersonation, since there is no way to determine if the person is himself/someone else. However IRC is easier to use and is more flexible than the current chat.

that is indeed the problem :\ authing determines it well..but not well enough. in other games i play you can link your irc auth to your ingame account. i wonder if that is possible here

When we were going through possible chat ideas, we had the similar problem of impersonation. And after a lot of discussion and testing, that is one of the resons why we went with the live chat on the website, than an IRC channel.
