If you don't appreciate this tactic...

you might want to avoid this player.
That is, people who intentionally hold up the game in the beginning for two turns before making their move.
prolend skipped his first two turns and then made a move. Mind you, I really don't think he got much out of doing so especially since he had two countries in Oceania and his partner had one of the others to start. Skipping his turns allowed him to take Europe and put massive 2-3 army defenses on each border.
Honestly, I could care less about how effective it is. This is not about how wise a move it was, rather how rude it is to purposefully hold up a game in an attempt to gain advantage.
This was the game chat that happened when I expressed the fact that I thought it rude that he simply made his third move without apologizing for holding up the game...
detlef: Not for nothing prolend, but it is typically protocol to tell the group you're sorry if you hold the game up for two full days at a time...
prolend: it was a strat, so, no i wont apologize
detlef: Well, it's a strat that most people who play this game will find very rude.

I find a lot of people do that in games. Honestly, the missing a turn bonus multiplier shouldn't even exist seeing that if you can't make it to your turn (which takes about five minutes at most) you don't really deserve to get anything back.
At least they don't get a card for those turns, but its still bogus as it holds up games. Not to mention you have no idea if they'll just pop up again and suddenly throw the whole game up til that point out the window simply because they get 6-9 armies and can bust something they never should have been able to if they actually played the game right.

Definitely worthy of negative feeback. Skipping turns on purpose perverts the intentions of the game.

I never missed a turn for about 40 games straight, but had to go out of town and couldn't find someone to do my moves for me in time. I told my partners in the partners games to delay as long as possible. One moved exactly 1 minute after the other player, so that tack didn't work too great!
Considering I was corporal 1st class when I left and am private now, I'd say that tactic ain't so great. I've definitely played people who are doing it on purpose, they come in, look over the game, determine they are safe and skip their turn. It would be a relatively straightforward enhancement to the site to penalize THOSE people with no additional armies. If you sneak a peek, you don't get additional armies. Of course in team games your buddies could sneak the peek for you, so I guess it isn't foolproof...
Oh well, back to badmouthing them instead...

Sure it's a lame tactic, but not worthy of a negative feedback. More of a neutral in my book and perfectly good ignore list fodder. I bet prolend is already on Coleman's ignore list because he stays on top of these kinds of things.

I have thought about this before, It seems a missed turn should only get armies multiplied by 1.5,2,2.5. Or something similar. It would delete the benefit of delaying the game.

Wow, I'm often amazed at how people really take neg feedback so seriously. So much so that they'd be concerned about leaving it for such a reason.
I mean, it's not like people can't read why you are leaving it. Since most people here seem to think this tactic shows poor sportsmanship, I think it's a fine reason to leave neg feedback. If you click on the guys feedback, find that's why it was left and don't care, then you'll play against him anyway.

Somehow Neg's are important to serious players.. otherwise the system really would be pointless.
Even the players who purport not to take them seriously; aspiring to a large Neg count have turned their lack of care into a rebellious pursuit .. so i would say it is pretty serious to them too.
Anyway i reckon the described tactic is worth a Neg. I truly despise the tactic; it lacks grace and style.
