What is happening to our CC?

I don't know if I'm the only one noticing or not, but our beloved CC seems to be dieing. There are misfunctions going on in several areas, the forumns have slowed down to a halt, and alot of fun and interesting players are leaving. I personally know I'm thinking about leaving because live chat is down, and thats what I was using to host rt's, one of my favorite game types. Who knows, maybe I'm a crack pot, and you can tell me to gfy if you want, but I can't shake the feeling our site is on a downhall or at least a slump. Any comments?

I think that a lot of people are not participating as much due to school starting, moving to universities, summer ending, vacations, etc. But yes, I do notice the decline in activity. I too will be leaving in about 2-3 weeks.

The players leaving is bound too happen, don't worry about that. But for every oldie that leaves, there's about 50 new recruits joining up. Some of them are bound to stay and become good members too.

i think you're effing crazy.....i don't know what "misfunctions" you're talking about.....if you can't give numbers about some "forum decline," then you can't make an argument.....who are these people that are leaving? and guess what, live chat's not very important and easily fixed.....one way i measure CC health is the record number of users online....the record has held for about almost 2 months now.....THAT might be a problem....but it says more about the growth of the site rather than the overall "health" of current users.....imo things are actually a little bit better than a month ago, lack just needs to do a little advertising.....
cheers

Players come and go, it's the nature of an online site like this. Ya hate to see some of them go, but then again we're always meeting new people as well too. The entire face of the forums has changed since when I first started here, and it will again and again.

And Jota came back. Apparently he was a big name back in the day. Others will come too. Of course, who all important has left?? I keep seeing the same frequent names and then a bunch of new ones.

All good things come to an end. Besides if this site gets too popular, Hasbro (or whoever owns Risk these days) will just squash it with their legal team when "Risk - The Movie" gets pitched and they start seeing Transformers money in protecting the Risk name.

I just recently joined the site so I can't attest to it's previous success, but I can tell you that I don't have problems finding games, the forums always have new posts for me to read and kill time, and I still tell all my friends about this place.
It's not just up to Lack to advertise, I would say a majority of people come here by word of mouth. That's how I got here, and I've referred several others. The person who told me got about 10 people to join up and I play with them regularly.
Frankly, I see nothing wrong. I'm still a newb; but the site will only die when new players don't have a place.

I'm going in late August mainly due to school. I'll be back in probably late June next summer, so stay tuned and cheer up, people leaving may come back later on. I wonder what changes will take place 10 and a half months later, hmmm

Im like a bear somewhat. I hibernate over the winter for the most part then emerge in the spring all lemony and bubbling.
For real though I drop down to near 5 or 6 games and post maybe once every 2 or 3 days.
I have noticed according to Alexa trafficing that CC has been going downhill gradually for quite some time every since around early to late may I beleive.
I dont see CC dieing anytime soon though.

Holidays I imagine would do that! Everyone leaving and just generally slowing down for a short while, wait till its no longer holidays, everyone will return! And also I think the forums are being spoiled a bit by experienced members bragging allll the time, it kinda turns off relative newcomers such as myself.

Certain game types seem to have slowed down. But if you create a 2 player game, it doesn't seem to last more than 5 seconds before someone jumps on. I've wittled my games down to just 1 as I'm going away for the weekend and I'm taking 2 weeks of holidays soon as I'm moving houses and switching job locations. Life happens.
I'm in several tournaments which are quite fun and will be around more frequently when life isn't so hectic.

The bragging is a turn off to new members. I know what my first thought was seeing a few posts "Oh no, I'm just gonna get a bunch of comments telling me to go away cuz i'm a noob or something"
But I had the patience to look around a bit, and saw that people are generally nice on here. Unfortunately, not all new members have that patience.
But anyways, I always see forums/user interactive websites have a lesser amount of activity once summer comes drawing to a close. It's the way things are, school just gets in the way of alot of users doing what they like to do here. I think winter holidays will either bring about even more people being absent, or the return of some to say hello or whatever. In any case, Conquer Club is awesome and as long as its members reflect upon the site, it'll stay successful.

yes a lot of good players are leaving... it might be just because of summer, but other players I know that left say they're just not having fun anymore, either from games or the forums, and if that is the case in the forums then we have a reason to be worried

A lot of good players leave because they have reached their goal and dont need the hassle of trying to protect their 2000/2500/3000 points.
It is much more fun climbing the ladder than trying to stay there so its understandable that a lot stop playing, though others quickly replace them and themselves rise to the top. Please dont comment that they shouldnt take points/rank so seriously because we all have different make ups, I find it difficult to get excited by pages and pages of flaming but many obviously enjoy it.

Really? There are so many threads dedicated to bragging! Even in callouts where people look down on you because you have fewer points than them. It happpens. I mean i dont have that many points, but thats mainly due to lack of games. Im sure if I spend time on here and work at it one day I will reach rank of captain and then I will see if I have to be as arrogant and downgrading as some people on the forums seem to be.....

The only thing really bothering me is all the flaming outside of flame wars and no real indication that people are getting in trouble for it.

You could play for fun. That's what it's supposed to be all about anyways. That's what it's all about for me. It's all about the experience of playing with other people who enjoy the game for what it is. The scoreboard is just a way of showing who's best, that's all.

Or who's best at manipulating the game for points without cheating. But most of the high ranked players are legitimately good. If I was always playing for points I can tell you my rank would be a lot different, but I just play for the hell of it.
