So how many assassin games have you seen ended when somebody took out the wrong target.
I've both benefited and been dinged by it and I'm about ready to suggest that if somebody eliminates the wrong target that THEY take the loss and give up points to the other players.
Wouldn't take to many mistakes like that to get somebody's attention about what the game rules are.

yeah i won a bunch of points one time when somebody eliminated my target. It was pretty funny because they could have eliminated theirs in the next couple of turns, and I didn't have any armies near my target's remaining troops.

Actually I've done it myself. I was playing on that crappy colored Vietnam map (sorry to whoever made it, it needs updating) and it was difficult to tell the difference between pink and yellow. I thought the assassin still had armies left...feel bad, but it was an accident. I've never played assassin ever again.

I've won points that way too. Even though I was pretty well poised to eliminate my target, someone else took him out. I've got to say, it was pretty nice.

Well it wont be that way for long. The new rule will have it so that if someone kills a target that isn't theirs, its as if the target deadbeated and the game goes on.

Edit: nvm, engage brain before typing

.
It could make things rather more difficult though, as eliminating someone else's target when they have it set up would cause them to be annoyed and have to start again

Well if this is true I guess I won't be playing these games any more. Bad decision IMO. How many times does someone eliminate the wrong player that makes this needed? Doesn't seem like alot and all this will do is punish those players who plan to eliminate their targets and then get screwed cause someone else takes them out ahead of them. I thought the entire purpose of these games was to eliminate YOUR target not get someone else's ahead of them.

It's not just for the few times where people accidentally kill the wrong targets. There's also the fact that it would bring in a bit of strategy to the game. Right now all you do is seek out your target from round 1, and mindlessly attack him till the game ends. Now you are forced to be more secretive about who your target is, since simply dwindling the target down makes it possible for someone else to kill off that target.
