With the diminishing number of players wanting to play Speed Games would canceling the foe function for these games help keep this aspect of the site going?

I doubt it. Speed games used to be populated by hardcore escalating and freestyle players. It was also mainly freestyle players who foe more regularly than other players, since the games would be intense and people would get heated. The changes to freestyle killed that aspect. Take into account the thousands of players who've gradually quit over the years and speed games just aren't as populated anymore. Not to mention, the variety of maps commonly found are basically all the same, even more so than in the past. All I see is Baltic Crusades, Luxembourg and Classic, with the occasional France 2.1, USA 2.1 or similar.
Not sure why you posted this in the Newsletter forum either. I guess it'll go to Suggestions or General Discussion.

I like speed games as much as the next guy, but I'm not going to un-foe someone who is a notorious ass to play with just so I can try and play a half-hour to hour game. Something about listening them bitch, cry, suicide, hit random stacks, caff, is just unappealing to me.
In any event, removing the foe-block and allowing them to play with players who have a history with one another would more than likely result in an even more reduced pool of players who play speed, not increase it. That button was invented for a reason, and I intend to use it against those who really deserve it, like Joan for example.
