How does luck run this bad?

I can understand having one 1% thing happen in a game to cause a loss, but I just had THREE super rare bad things in ONE GAME!!

Classic, escalating,freestyle, 6 players

1. I had a 30-7 troops advantage against one player's last country to take FIVE cards. I lost 29, he lost TWO!!! Cards went to someone else.

2. 4 players left. I kill two, cash in for 75, have 85 against 20 on the rest of the board against one player. Take my time, slowly moving across. I get "Illegal attack." Last player happened to start turn during my attack!! Cashed a set (only had three cards) and blocked my attack!! If I had clicked as fast as possible it would have been over before he played!!

3. 2 players left, equal territories and men. I have 4 cards, he has three, my turn. I get 5th card. He starts new turn. Has set with only three for the second time!!! Wipes me out.

How ridiculous is that??

2. Don't play freestyle

It wouldn't show illegal attack if the guy blocked you. You'd still be able to attack whatever country that guy was now occupying. Only time it would say "illegal attack" is if you're trying to attack a country that isn't bordering the one you're in like an attack from alaska to indonesia or something along those lines.

so perhaps you lost because you thought two countries shared a boarder when they didn't?

You should research the "illegal attack" thing, because that couldn't possibly happen. A player can't block your attack.

But my solution to this scenario as mentioned above: don't play freestyle.

My attack was blocked. What happened was I conquered a country, moved into it, went to attack the next one, but was not allowed to do anything because my opponent had started an attack against the country I just entered. I was stuck as the defender.

That really sucks, but I do agree with the other people who say not to play freestyle. Unless you don't mind staying up half the night playing Risk. :)

doesn't usually happen like that, i'm off freestyle now but when two people attack each other it just does the dice rolls on a first click first attack basis, for each click, one person clicks attack, it determines the outcome, in the meanwhile the other guy pressed attack as well and it then rolls for that attack, you shouldn't have gotten illegal attack move.

1. In the game chat you said it was 25 vs. 15. So which one is it? And it turned out he had some misfortune and gave you an easy elimination too.

2. If you had just began the round and he happened to be online at the same time to catch you starting the round and saw he could begin his turn, then that would have sucked. But considering somebody missed a turn in the previous round, both of you could have known exactly what time you could have taken your turn again, so him being ready to play is not that unreasonable.

3. The winner of the game has 3 cards, meaning you only had 3 cards when he eliminated you, not 5. And the chances of him having a set with 3 cards are 1 in 3, 1 in 1000.

Suck it up cupcake.

I've always wanted to say that. :P

That's not how it works, so I don't believe your story :P

Two players can attack each other across the same border at the same time...it doesn't matter. So either you clicked on the wrong country to attack/attack from, or you thought the countries bordered but they didn't...or he conquered the country you were trying to attack from before you clicked the button (that could happen with auto attack).

Anyway, #1 sucks if its like you really said but since you said something different in the game chat its hard to believe.

#2 is your own fault and a part of freestyle

#3 happens to everyone in big escalating games (it sucks when it works against you, but its great when you're on the other side)

Your luck will always seem worse if you constantly complain about it. :)

I was going to make a funny joke about your luck...but what happened to you is just horrible. I echo the chorus of players here saying, "don't play freestyle".
