How to get to Field Marshall in 3 easy steps.

1. Recruit an accomplice who is willing to help you.
2. Play one-on-one games with the accomplice and lose them all, until you have a score of 20 or less. (This will go faster with a second accomplice to drive down the score of the accomplice who you play.)
3. Play a 6-player game with 5 players who have an average score of at least 1000 and win. If you lose, keep playing 6-player games until you win one. Because of the score formula, you will suck up ALL of your opponents' points, leaving them at 0 and you at their combined total. Congratulations, you're a Field Marshall!

Okay, so they're not actually easy steps, especially #2. Still, it seems like a flaw in the scoring system that driving your score down can actually get you to a *higher* ranking than you would get otherwise. And the idea of getting 5000 points from one game is so funny I couldn't help posting it. :)

I see a flaw in your plan. Max points you can win from any player is 100. Oh, and we blocked two people from playing together for doing #1-2.

I have a better plan, with only one step.

1. Win Battle Royale. (see gibbom)

What you have to do to get to the top is get in about 1000 games. Then if you are about to win one you just leave the last person with 1 territory and hold off the win. Do this for every game that you are about to win until the only games that are left are the ones where you have a sure win. The hundreds of games that you have lost will drive your score way down. Because your score is low it will start by going up quickly as one starts to finish of those you have been delaying. Assuming you win 1/3 and win 15 points a game, you should win about 4800 points. The only problem would be that players would likely deadbeat instead of waiting and that you would have to spend about 10 hours a day playing.
