Concede game button

There really needs to be a concede game button. Without it, it's just takes forever to finish a game. I know if I've lost, why can't I just concede the game?

Paves the way to poor sportsmanship. Left and right there were would conceding (we did have a surrender button but it was abused). Victories would be a lot less fun if most everyone just gave up. It'd ruin the game. :)

Not so sure I agree with you andy. Chess (between top players) always finish with a resignation. Match play golf only goes to 18 if more than 1 result is possible.

Personally being a premium member I would never concede, you never know when someone might get a real life emergency and deadbeat (never happened yet, though :() But i can see how it must be frustrating being locked into a game that you can't win.

I'd like a button I could use to make my opponents concede the games...

I think there should be a concede button, but only for the last two players in the game. Having to play the last few turns when it's down to just two players and the winner is clear is silly.

I think this would be good :)

I don't like the idea of a concede button, although it might keep some people from suiciding "just because the game is lost anyway".

Now a button that ends the game with a draw if all players clicked on it within one round, THAT's something I'd like to see.

Originally I thought a resign/surrender/concede button would be a good addition to Conquer Club, but on other competitive gaming sites I've seen players abuse similar features to give friends quick wins. Which means this eject button would be one more thing for the Mods to monitor.

Maybe it would work well for tournament play, games with high ranked players or those with a significant number of games played.

It's hard enough for people to avoid hitting the "end attacks" button by accident. Can't even begin to think of the outrage at hitting the "concede" button on accident.

What if you're banking on taking out a player to take their cards and then they concede? It would totally screw up strategies and make it almost completely based on luck...

If there is a concede button, it should leave the player on the map with the possibility of getting their cards (like deadbeats in terminator games).

A concede button would be abused more than a group of kids in Michael Jackson's care.

Though on the flip side of that, most cheats are idiots. They might make multiple accounts and just keep conceding the game to their main account, this would be easy to catch. Not so easy when its an account from a different IP.

I guess I like the idea of a concede button, personally I would never use it, but I'd be content as a creamed cock if others used it when playing me.

I agreed with a concede button until I read the posts. You guys have made some very convincing arguments as to why it wouldn't work. I never even thought of it being abused by friends in a game to give their pals a win...people who do that are just ub3r gh3y. It's a friendly online gaming site, who the hell cares if you're a cook or a colonel as long as you're having fun?! :?
If we could have a vote kick button that would be awesome, where deadbeaters or jacka55e5 get kicked from a game if the rest of the players all click the kick button.
Worked wonders in Counter Strike when the campers got kicked from the server by their own team-mates

My point is this: I'm hemmed in in a Classic game with only Eastern Australia left. I have 6 armies. There's just 2 of us left. He's got 20ish armies in Siam and keeps putting more on it. He's attacking the neutral player when he gets around to playing his turn.

Maybe it's me. Just finish it and move on. The Mortal Kombat 'Fatality' sound doesn't play, does it?

I can see that it could be abused, but, aren't the moderators here to check up on things like that? Can't something like that be instituted when it's 2 players and one has > 4x the number of countries of the other? Something?

Maybe others take their points far more seriously than I do. I just started, so what do I know? It's just retarded to be left hanging by someone who has OBVIOUSLY won already and is dragging it out on purpose.

Absolutely, haven't the mods been complaining lately that they aren't busy enough with multis and people crying about every negative feedback they get?

I think it might be useful in the aforementioned situation. Two players left, one player has has 75% of the armies on the board. Just let the weak player concede and move on.

90% of 1 vs. 1 games would be conceded by turn three.

"Maybe others take their points far more seriously than I do."

i didn't take points seriously at first either- but soon you become hooked and your score becomes your life

I believe a concede button would only be a positive addition if the other player allowed the conceding player. Such as "player 1 wants to concede. Do you accept?" with a choice whether or not to let them concede.

In the scenario I posted, he would obviously just say no and continue on. I'm not complaining about not being able to play, I liked the site so much that I paid for premium, so more games isn't the issue. It's just the principle to me. I'm beat, let's just get it over with and move on. I say congratulations and if I could, I'd shake your hand and say, "Well played." But, maybe I just ran into someone who rubbed me the wrong way and I wanted away from it without sinking to his level and not playing my turns. He won. Bueno. There's more games.

I don't know. After I knew I was beat, I looked all over for the Concede Game button. I was surprised there wasn't one. Now, I know more history than I did. Thanks forums!

I do not like the idea of a concede button at all. The first and foremost reason is that the only time I would hit it is by mistake. You never know what can happen, for example there was a real good chance that I would not have been able to finish two games this week that I was sure to win because of vacation. I can just read the negative feedback now "this guy wouldn't concede even though he had 2 troops left and no cards."

Next if you allow people to concede before it is just one on one, you run into the same problems that arise for deadbeats. Nobody gets the players cards, and you take areas out of the game when they become useless neutral areas. Nothing annoys me more than having a large chunk of the map taken out of play from a deadbeat.

The only argument I can understand for a concede button is if you are non-premium and have all 4 games going. Waiting for your opponent to finish you off is much less fun than starting a new game. But I have no sympathy for those who won't cough up the 20 bucks for a year of unlimited games.

IF ever there is a "concede button" it needs a window that opens when you click it that asks...

DO YOU REALLY WISH TO CONCEDE?
and a spot to click YES or no

If he's being a jerk, tell him that if he doesn't start trying to kill you, you'll give him negative feedback and deadbeat.

Or lose a bunch of games so that it costs him points.
