Personal Archive

Is there a way to archive pms where one could still search them. I have various pms that I would like to keep. But with the 50 pm limit and only 6 mailboxes, I start to get squeezed on some of them. (With running tournaments, clan stuff, friends and rules to sort the pms, I do use up the space.)

So I would love if I could transfer some of them to my google account, my dropbox account, or just a zip file on my hard drive .

Anybody got ideas on how I could do this?

this absolutely amazes me. i can't think of any one piece of cc info i would deem necessary to move over to drop box, google, etc, etc... i can't think of any single piece of info, aside from my password, that i couldn't just walk away from and never look at it again and be ok. i am truly intrigued by the contents of you box!!!-Jn

what's in the box?!!

I had a mission once but it got all ruined. I was trying to only delete normal posts and save every post that says "This post was deleted. Delete this post". Once I had achieved a mailbox full of them, all my adoring fans would be impressed. It never happened because I let my mailbox go a single time and lost them all in one blow. Thanks for ruining my hopes and dreams.

I didn't used to synchronize but then I started and found that longitudinal snapshots had real utility when combined with standard ad hoc PM-based monitoring, although that's mostly only useful for tracking the progress of hidden forums because obviously the public ones are best monitored bilaterally and PM doesn't help with that. I think knig-it should make a suggestion in the Suggestions forum to start expanding this.

You have the option to extract them down the bottom left of your inbox, havn't really had the need to use it myself, have tested it once and it works.

Thats a good point, it might be a Mod perk, as I say I have never really used it.

In the absence of a Goat, I will have to ask TeeGee or Duk to confirm

I appreciate the help. But when I try as a XML I get errors and as a CSV I get what appears to be parts of bunch of pms and not just the one I selected.

Would appreciate knowing what these files are and how I might usefully extract them. I am working in Mac OS but could load windows in if I have to. (Most Mac programs can read windows files if I can get them out.)

Okay, I figured out what the files are and can open a pretty clean copy in Pages but it still seems like I am getting all the emails together.

Do I need to do something with the "Delimiter" and the "Enclosure"?
