So much bitching here about supposed "bad dice" that I thought I would report the flip side:
Yesterday I could do no wrong, the rolls kept coming my way over and over again!
It's the best board game ever invented!

Hear, hear! I love the dice too sometimes - yesterday I took 20 odd armies and lost 2 men on World 2.1. In that process I killed a stack of 10 without losing an army
The luck comes and goes. Currently I am enjoying a good streak - I'm actually getting close to Sergeant 1st Class! No doubt it will turn again just as quickly but, hey, I'll get over it

I've been on about a two week string of bad luck with the dice. I think my luck will change soon though, yesterday I got my first win in a long time and it feels good. By bad luck I mean, I repeatedly would lose sevens to threes on my first turn and from there it's an uphill battle the whole game. It's tough.

The dice can be super hot sometimes! I just think people are too scared to try it so they never really get to experience rolling through a 12 with an 8 and having 6 left over, or such crazy things of that nature! I try all the time, maybe that's my problem....

I've blown out a few with hot dice, and been blown out a few times, but the biggest rush is when you are faced with no choice but to try and roll through bad odds to stay in the game, and then pick up an escalating sweep that is so tight that you run down to one or two armies three times in a row.
It don't get any better than that!

I tried to eliminate someone in a recent game. I got screwed over by the dice 7v1 with 3 left over and it cost me the game. After the other player eliminated them, I broke both of their continents without losing an army.

It is at times like these that I say to myself I am no longer addicted to CC. Of course, as soon as I win a game, I'm back on for several hours every day again.
However, even better is when you win a game where the dice keep screwing you. It's just like saying, "f*ck you dice gods - I can win with or without your help!" This can only be done where you actually leave extra armies everywhere to allow for bad dice. Unfortunately, you genuinely do need the luck of the dice quite a lot.
P.S. After posting this I will make another sacrifice to the dice gods - I have no doubt offended them

in the long term the dice are fair, however, as I'm sure most people would agree, they are more streaky than dice in real life, although those tend to be streaky on occasion as well.

I don't think they are more streaky than dice in real life. You just have many more rolls so you notice the bad and good more. How often do you play ten games of risk in a row using real dice?

Good point, or how often do you play anywhere between 4-50 games at the same time, each day with real dice?
You've just got more time to notice it here.

Yup. Which is why I chose to do just that.
Just the the game, it's the most fun when everything is in balance.

sneer: a look of disgust, usually with curled lip.

I just dominated steve monkey with great dice and great luck.
I went first, starting with 13 countries so I got to place 4. With my bunch of 7 I killed 6 of his men which meant he could only place 3 and was already at a disadvantage. The best part was of course that in my 7 vs 3,3 I lost nothing so my fortifications were awesome as well.

I like this thread about sweet dice rolls!

Just today; i'm in a game that looked pretty bad so I just deployed on my pal and figured i'd end my turn. I did have a 3 on West US and the other team held S. America protected by a 2 on Central America......so i figured why not take a shot! I rolled right through a 2 and smashed that 1 on Venezuela to break the bonus! All with a 3 that was just sitting there doin nothin! lol Even something as simple as that can make me feel good.....

I went 92 against 68 on an autoroll yesterday and had 44 left to move across. Now that was hot dice!

I went up against Europe yesterday with 35 armies against 50. I ended up sweeping the board

.
This is my "hot dice" thread so I won't mention my other dice experiences today

I know the feeling. In fact, I think I've come to expect "hot dice." Thus, the complaints that come when the dice don't agree with me.
My dice analyzer says I've rolled almost 15,000 times.
Attacker rolls:
2663 / 14558 (18.29%)
2307 / 14558 (15.85%)
2303 / 14558 (15.82%)
2282 / 14558 (15.68%)
2357 / 14558 (16.19%)
2646 / 14558 (18.18%)
1380 / 7631 (18.08%)
1249 / 7631 (16.37%)
1212 / 7631 (15.88%)
1201 / 7631 (15.74%)
1200 / 7631 (15.73%)
1389 / 7631 (18.20%)
As you can see, on the positive side - I roll a LOT of sixes (and the defense rolls a lot of ones)
Alas, on the negative side - I roll a LOT of ones (and the defense rolls a lot of sixes)
The telling fact (which makes me think my dice are hot) is that the next highest percentage is 5 v 2 in my favor.
Of course, with all those sixes and ones - I think I suffer the most 666 v 66 AND 111 v 11 losses
But, on the whole the dice are quite nice to me. Here are my battle percentages:
3 v 2: 37.79% (0.62%) / 32.99% (-0.59%) / 29.22% (-0.04%)
3 v 1: 65.46% (-0.51%) / 34.54% (0.51%)
2 v 2: 23.64% (0.88%) / 33.12% (0.71%) / 43.33% (-1.50%)
2 v 1: 54.96% (-2.91%) / 45.04% (2.91%)
1 v 2: 35.48% (10.02%) / 64.52% (-10.02%)
1 v 1: 41.42% (-0.25%) / 58.58% (0.25%)
So, basically - I smoke them down to 1, but after that ...
