One colour gets kicked in poly and it goes neutral? Since when and why?

I think it has always been the case.

On one hand I think it should work like team games because they works like team game for all the other rules.
On the other hand, in a team game, you get the regions of your partner if he deadbeats, because it's unfair you are penalized because of your teammate deadbeating, while in a polymorphic game, it's your own fault if you deadbeat one player so why would you get the other regions ?

Yeah I understand that, although for me it was unavoidable. I just never knew that was the case.

Maybe they could ask if it was avoidable or not and then work out what to do

No chance, way too much manpower required. I just think it should have been common knowledge that such a gameplay change was made.
