Just curious if I'm in line with most folks, just average, or just plain bad at my play. I've been trying to figure this game out... slowly, and I'm losing a lot more than I win. Thoughts?
Score: 908
Games: 54 Completed, 12 (22%) Won
Is this okay? I'll settle for average
Thanks. I guess the most important thing is, I'm having a blast playing

Learning the game, you are bound to take a beating when you first come onboard. "Sucking" ( to me ) would be someone who just completely has no concept of how the game is played let alone how to win. You have shown you know how to win, your just not at the point where you are winning alot of games. My advice would be to find a stratagy that has worked in your wins, and implement that into your games. Perhaps you might find more sucess that way

Thanks for the responses. I know no one wants to give away strategies, but is there some kind of basic 'rule of thumb' type strategies that could help me a little? Any tips are appreciated, I'm sure that's a loaded and probably taboo question to ask, but I sure enjoy winning more than losing so any advice to a noob is appreciated. Thanks

Find a good partner and play against higher ranked players. That way, when you win, you gain alot while you would lose very little if the other team won.

have a look at this, i think it may be helful for you
http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14830
that is the general rule of thumb and generally you just expand from there as you become more experienced.

lol he does not suck, when i first started i went down to the equivalent of a chef now. in about my first 100 games, it then took me about another 20 to get back up to where i started. and from there its gotten better, just give it time and as long as u keep learning from every game u will progress up the ranks.

Actually I think that I suck and I'm a sergeant with a 40% win.
Compared to the higher-ups you and me are terrible.

You certainly don't suck. The whole "percent" thing has never really made much of a difference to me- maybe you play big games while some guy with a 40% or high win rating plays exclusively one-on-one.
As to points, that also depends on what you play. Personally I never play doubles or triples, so my score is bound to be lower than someone who rides in on the coattails of the higher-ranking members of the club. And private ain't bad. We have more than a few cooks hereabouts. I for one am a PFC and damn proud of it

defend your borders before trying to tackle the whole continent.
Example:
Say that you have your eyes on getting South America. Firstly, try to get as many men as you can on Venezuela. Leave the other territories alone for now. Once you have **a lot** of men on Venezuela, you can attack Brazil, and split your men 50/50 Venezuela <>Brazil. If you had 19 men on Venezuela, and you attack Brazil, and lose 3 men, you can split the men 8 on Venezuela and 8 on Brazil. Next turn, you can put a few extra men on Venezuela and Brazil. Try to defend against the strongest opponent - i.e. the opponent either with the most men or the most skill. For example, put extra men on Brazil if there is a specially large army in North Africa. The next turn after that, you can finally take Argentina and Peru, and fortify your Venezuelan and Brazilian borders once again.
In this way, since you don't have the whole continent at once, players are much less likely to want to attack you, and destroy your +2 South America bonus. By strongly defending your borders BEFORE grabbing a hold of S.A., you increase the chance that when you actually DO hold all of S.A., your enemies will have a very touch time trying to break into it. Moreover, you are much more likely to continue to get your +2 for the entire span of the game.
With this method, it takes longer to finally get a continent. But what good is it to rush and get a continent with weak borders that your opponents can easily destroy in their subsequent turns?
Secure your borders first. Take continent last.

it depends on what games you play.
If you play 4 or 5 player games, you're average, because the average winning percentage would be 20% or 25%. If you play a lot of triples games, or 2 player games, you kinda do suck, because average would be closer to 50%.
Everybody loses when they start out, so even if you suck, keep playing you'll get better.

So "average" is to win half of the 6 player games you enter? That's an interesting concept of average.
No game has more than a 50% win percentage, so approaching 50% is better than average.
So no, he doesn't suck, he's just average.

intresting point there but the percentage ratio is worthless as i see it
for the following issue: some ppl with a percentage of 20% with 2000+ score
and some have 50% with 1300 score...
it depends on what game types u play it doesnt show how good u r!

I hope that is sarcastic and not just another asshole comment. Remember, maniacmath17 has a 33% win record and he's 3rd on the scoreboard and largely regarded as the best singles player on CC. He's not the only one as there are a few other great players with comparatively low win percentages. It all depends on what game type you play. If you play mostly singles, then you are not expected to win that many. However, those who play team games can have winning percentages of up to 80%.
Besides Big Falcon, your score is only 1219, which isn't all that great. You obviously play quite a lot of team games as your win percentage is quite high. Me, I play mostly singles and my win percentage is below 40%. However, I still have a score of 1568. So really, win percentage isn't a lot to go by. All it tells you is what sort of games that person mostly plays
