Dice advantage

Postby Sgt. Drake on Thu Jun 14, 2007 7:41 pm

Lets say that you knew that the dice were broken in some way. Yes I know that according to the numbers, they are random. However, they are random because over time, the brokenness averages out. Anyways, my point is not to point out that there might be something wrong with the dice. Lets say that they are, and you knew a way to utilize it to your advantage. Would you do it? I'm not talking about where you never lose men, but where attacking 20 from 20 would often leave you 8 or 10 men left after you take his country. Would you utilize the dice in your favor if you could?

No. You may as well keep a loaded dice in your pocket. I play games because they are a fair challenge between people. The only person you cheat when you play for fun is yourself. There’s no honour in the victory as you will never know if you could really beat the opposing players if you hadn't of cheated. I would prefer to play fair and lose than cheat and win. Maybe it’s because I'm British, but cheating at any sport or game really is the lowest of the low. Its just not cricket :)

No way. As my dad always says - its the only sport where England is sure to lose! A reason in itself to watch!

The most exciting part of cricket is when everyone leaves the field to go sip tea.

And yes, I would totally use broken dice to my advantage.

Random my ass...in 1 game i lose 12-0 then my partner loses 12-1 ....then in another game i have 5 armies to attack and i take 3 countries with 3s on it the dice are stupid so is this game....they r not equal they r b/s

edit: and now i also know (formally used to think) that every game has its winner no matter what the 1 who lost would try to do he would at the end lose and the designed winner would win the game....look at every1 percentage it varies for example i have 39% it varies between 38 and 40% but it stables on 39% no matter what i fucking try to do...the games are already set to the winner

I completely agree..There is no such thing as random as random.org points out in its information, the dice are broken/fixed/ and are the reason i will be running my games down. Ive played approx 200 games in the last 3 weeks and since the update with the stats i have lost nearly every game even with doubles partners who i play regularly and win, everygame is onesided you either win or lose there is no more of swaying and battling in the games either one player or one team has perfect rolls and perfect cards the ones where it is like that for me i have to apoligise as there is no fun in winning a game without the battle.

There must be something wrong as ive seen more posts recently for dice than anything else.

Good luck to all

everyone complains about how bad the dice are, but you only notice your attacking dice, or your teammates attacking dice.

How many times has an opponent broken 25 troops on your border of 3? You have no clue, because it's 4 turns up in the game log, and your borders are standing.

Do you have the dice analyzer? What's your percentage? do you even have any evidence other than your (notoriously bad) memory?

Conversely for every time you remember you loosing X battles in a row how many times have you forgotten your brilliant sweeps across the board where you take X nations without loosing a single unit?

I remember looking at the board and seeing that one of my nations had a significantly reduced number of units. I went back and saw that the opponent had placed a massive number of units adjacent and lost big time.

The only thing that has changed to my knowledge is the introduction of 1v1 games. If your playing a lot of these then luck is a much bigger factor. There is less strategy as the best option is usually to just put all your armies in your front lines and do an all out attack.

Obviously without any other players to worry about it is pretty much down to the dice and disposition of your armies as to who wins. That doesn't mean there is no skill in 1v1 but there is a lot more luck or as I prefer to call it variance.

In high variance games short term results mean very little but in the long run even in 1v1 games the cream will always rise to the top.

ive found 1 v 1's can be very biased. i mean ive once logged in and found that the guy got the first turn, was dealt oz, and with his bonus had managed to procure South America as well as taking 3 from me meaning i was down to 3 armies per go, all this in a no cards chained game, how do u recover from that, well in short, u dont! i have to say the best map for 1 v 1 is circus maximus, no cards and chained. it is by far the fairest and (altho i would not play this map under any other circumstances or settings) it is very fun!

Please tell me the secret to the dice! I am just playing a 1v1 game and the noob i'm playing just took 3 nations without losing an army when he only had 3 armies on his nation and was attacking a nation with 3 armies on it. The odds of him beating any of my nations should be pretty slim but to do it without losing any armies 3 times in a row seems pretty unlikely. To add insult to injury i then lost in a 9v3 battle on my turn so now i have no chance!

I will now reveal the secret of the dice:

Random or not, they are completely unpredictable.
