i finally talked my wife into letting me go premium. next paycheck, im gonna go for the gusto and go all out. my question is how many games do you guys and gals run at once without going nuts? how many can you sanely run?

That kinda depends on how much time you have to devote to CC.

I think on average the norm is about 2 minutes per move so 30 games will keep you busy for an hour or so. If you have 3 hours or so a day to invest then 100 games should be enough.

start off with 15 if you have a job. You could make half of them 2 player games and they would go by fast.

it mostly depends on which maps you're playing so if you want a ton of games at ounce stay away from 3 player games and big maps like world 2.1 because it takes a while to think up a solid strategy and take your turn.

you could probably do 20 team games with spending around 1 hr per day on here and most of the time less depending of the people who join\missed turns...

i were going nuts while having 40 games open, i suggest you play a max of 20-25 games at one time

Just start off with a low amount and if you find it's not enough then just build up more. Better to do it that way than to start with more than you can handle because then your stuck with them.

I'm currently running 26 games and spending 2-3 hours per day playing which is just right for me.

max 30, otherwise i really do spend too long on the site! when i first brought it i joined about a hundred which led to not only a huge loss in points but several hours a day spent playing which was just too much.....

Everyone forgot to mention one key factor in your decision of how many games to play- the amount of times you're going to be online.
If you play 60 games, and you check your games 3x a day, (morning, evening night) the likelihood of all your games being up goes down a lot, and you will only spend 20-25 minutes at each of those times.
Right now I'm at 20, and it's driving me crazy, because I catch up in 5 minutes, then I'm done (because I take my turns fast)
I hope this helps a bit, its more about preference then anything, so test out a few amounts.
Good luck,
John

i'm not a premium member but my guess the number of games should be according to several factors:

1. time availability. if you have 3 hours/day and all those hours are bulked let's say after you come home from work, you might need more games because some of them might not be ready for your turn in those 3 hours and you'll just sit around waiting. if you have 3 hours split in 18 periods of 10 mins each, a small number of games might be more indicated because if you log in and find 40 games with your turn you won't have time in those 10 mins.

2. people you play with. if you play games with people that act fast you'll need a small amount of games because your turn will come rather often but if you play games with people that are on different time zone or like to skip turns then get lots of active games.

3. how long you take your turn. if you like to ponder your every move and spend 10 minutes on each of your turns then get few games, if you take turns quickly then get more.

also remember you need to log in at least every 24 hours. with a large number of games it is more likely to skip turns if you don't log in in 24 hours.

I play up to 200. takes me 10 seconds to move so not alot of time is required. Also remember, just because you have 200 games, does not mean you have 200 moves. 6 players have 1 day to move so your turn may not come around for up to 6 days. I may have 50 games per day that require some kind of move.

Think of it like smoking, first you smoke 3 or 4 a day. Then you say, I should really buy the big carton, and you start smoking 6-10 times a day because they are more convienent. The addiction gets stronger and before you know it you are chain smoking, CC addicted warlord!!

When I first bought the premium I was satisfied with about 10 games at a time. I'm up to 20 right now (although I'm cutting back before I head off on vacation). I don't think 10 games will be overwhelming but it will certainly be enough to justify the $20.

I keep it at around 30-40 most of the time, that usually gives me about 12-15 turns to take when I wake up and 8-9 to take after dinner sometime. I haven't had too much trouble keeping up with them.

Of course, be careful, or you'll wind up like me: 1399 points one day and once all those first games you join after getting premium, you'll crash down to 740. Not much fun.

I've been premium for about a month now, when I first paid I joined about 30 games and lost many, many points. I settled into about 15 at a time and thats the ideal number for me, and more then worth the $20 bucks it cost.

Likewise, more than 15 and I start to loose the plot with turns coming in far to thick and fast

When I first got my prem, I kept it around 15 games. Then, I decided to join over 50 games one day, and long story short I ended up with over 80 active games, and had 50 turns to take a day. Big mistake. Now, I like to keep it around 40 active games at once, and it suits me just fine.

In terms of your question, I don't think anybody but yourself can answer that. Try joining 15 games to start, and then you can decide whether or not you want more or less. That is my recommendation to you.
