Management cheating And gutless worms

Having finished in the semi-final position in the 1vs1 championships tourney I was cheated out of the prize, the excuse being my prem ran out halfway thru the semi's. Clearly the reason is 2000 credits - why give the prize when we can cheat the player fob him off with no more than cow dung excuses and there's 0 he can do about it. Then he will have to buy premium its win win yeh. Well no.... This disregard for fair play makes me wanna puke - shame on mcshanester and BW for their cowardly cheating showing themselves to be little more than the filth from a dogs fart. I was going to give the majority of the points as a gift and go premium after Crimbo but..... I have no intention of giving money to support a cheating gutless regime. Words can't describe the complete disgust I feel for these 'gentlemen'

soooo, being premium was a stated requirement for the tournament? aaaaaaand, your premium ran out? ok... soooo, seems like you should have taken care of that, bought the lowest premium possible... don't know how they are cheating, sounds like you need to suck it up, cupcake...-Jésus noir

Precisely. He knew he was in a premium-only tournament, and he didn't feel like renewing his premium, so he was dropped, end of story. He dropped out of one of my tournaments around that time, too.

If he lived in Bangladesh or something, where $30 is a lot of money, I would be sympathetic. But cod lives in the U.K., where $30 won't even buy a decent lunch. Really, for anyone in a G7 nation, we're talking about lunch money here, not some major burdensome investment.

Oh just shut the fuck up. If you're going to try and state that $30 isn't a lot of money, do so intelligently. Of course you can buy a decent lunch for under 20 quid. Just like not all of the US is New York, not all of the UK is London. Dumbass.

McS took over a tournament that wasn't his . he deserves praise not censure and i think expecting to get the credits for the 4th place prize while the tourney is going on is a bit much
GC still would have had to beat someone in the finals ; he has a 5-4 edge over me , not necessarily a slam dunk esp it i get first move in 30-21 games like i did against unlucky ZIPs

Aye, and even in central London I have eaten plenty of meals which only cost around 10 pounds ($15).

I don't understand why everyone's jumping on OP. Isn't premium merely a requirement for entry?

I haven't seen any rule that says if you join a tournament which is only open to premiums, you have to maintain your premium membership all the way through until the end of the tournament (just like if you join a tournament which is only for players with over 2000 points, you aren't booted if your points drop below 2000 during the tournament).

if you can't physically join the games because you aren't premium, that is a bit of an issue, right? *eyes rolling*...-Jésus noir

He didn't need to join any more games. He was beaten in his semi-final, and so finished third.

He's complaining about not being given the 3rd place prize on account of his premium running out during his final game.

I saw it too. Presumably someone got the 3rd/4th place prize instead.

is it possible the prizes are only awarded after the tourney is complete? It sounds like it is still going.

I'm sure most people got the point without feeling it necessary to split hairs about whether it's one lunch or two lunches, or the price of a case of beer, or four packs of cigarettes, or 75% of a tank of gas in my Sentra, or 30% of a tank of gas in a big pig SUV, or a pair of jeans at a discount store. Basic point is, if you live in any G7 country, $30 is pin money.

Maybe if you didn't listen to that stupid death metal shit you wouldn't be so angry all the time. Try spinning some Donovan once in a while, and float along on a current of love.

Its just not Cricket

Well, I don't know the backstory, so I probably should be staying out of this, but my experience with running another one of the Championships series is that BW insists on a very strict and literal interpretation of the rules. The tourney specs say that freemiums will be allowed only in Round 1, and must buy premium thereafter. So, from BW's point of view, I can see that far from not being cricket, it is exactly cricket. BW believes that an event will not be respected unless the rules are interpreted strictly and literally.

Myself, I come from the opposite school, but it is not without similar perils. As a soft-hearted liberal kind of guy, I've often granted people extentions and exemptions in various tournaments, and then I've been hit with complaints just as bitter as the OP, but in the opposite direction. "How come you didn't kick so-and-so out of the tournament when he clearly violated rule x?!?! Now I'll be second when I should be first!" and so on. I do it my way because it's in my nature, not because I think my way is inherently superior. In fact, running one of BW's Championships this last year, and being forced to make strict rulings against my nature, has yielded surprisingly few complaints and a generally high level of acceptance from the players. So, to be perfectly honest, I think BW's "no exceptions" approach is probably better than mine, objectively speaking.

Anyway, once again I reiterate that this is all speculation, and I don't actually know the backstory to this one.
