We need it back. I remember the good old days when we could flame all day and enjoy the competitive banter.

http://web.archive.org/web/200804162153 ... um.php?f=7I'd like to see it back, but to be honest it wouldn't anything like it was.

You can petition, but even if "Flame Wars" makes a miraculous come back...it will never be like it used to be. All those people got jobs, families, and homes now. The other issue is new converts. How would a "Flame Wars" attract new customers for the site? I would argue that it would detract from the site.
When I first became a member, I didn't know what "Flame Wars" was. I stumbled in and asked a n00b question, and I was immediately belittled and cursed at. How is that attractive to new customers? This is why "Global Chat" is actually a good thing (even though I have mine shut off, because it can become a bit annoying). I've seen many times where a new member will pop in and ask questions and everyone in Global tries to help that person...not berate them and tell them that they are stupid.
If you like berating people, why not message the people you would like to berate and Skype their ass?

f*ck you, Da Gip. You are a piteously unseemly reptile; you're a nefarious, armpit-licking malodorous marinade of ooze and bile. Cunt.
Sad edit: I truly hope all parties know that this is clearly written in jest and no harm is meant for Mr. DaGip.Hell yeah, bring it back.
Also, if the forum is descriptive enough, I would hope people would know what they're getting themselves into when clicking into Flame Wars. Maybe even a friendly pop-up warning stating something to the tune of: "You can and will be belittled, berated, flamed, and virtually shat on upon entering this forum. Do you wish to continue?"

I'd personally love to see the return of Flame Wars, given I wasn't around during it's prime, but I can't see this gaining any success as it's been attempted a number of times.

Maybe there could be limitations on being allowed to view it.

that was suggested... along with a big 18+ warning... there were tons of suggestions made on how to keep it, but they tore it down... the PC version of CC was trying to be achieved for an alleged buy to HASBRO... wonder how that sale worked out, i don't recall it ever going through... all i know is, they began to tear apart the forums and the community, because the ends were going to justify the means... at the end of the day, they just ruined something that was pretty sweet...-Jn

it was kind of odd how the forum received the largest number of online reviews and accolades over the gaming on this site... flame wars was internet famous and gave the site a huge boost... so many people were in flame wars and never played a game... but hey, we can't blame the decline on tossing FW to the bin, that was one of many decisions at the same time that the site has yet to recover from...-Jésus noir

If they revived flame wars but it could only be accessed by paying members and this was clearly stated while paying for premium membership......

Arent flame wars ongoing in every single forum of this site? It may not be called that, but is anyone suggesting that is not what is happening?
I have no idea what flame wars was like as I am newer that that part of this site, but I imagine all that happened is closing flame wars forced the flaming elsewhere.

yeah, that is pretty much the closest description of what it was like... however, now you have to picture a 10 page thread blowing up overnight and your waking to it and having to decide if you are going to respond or just ignore it... i loved flame wars, and i didn't even frequent the damn thing!!-Jésus noir

Yeah, you have no idea what flame wars was like. Whatever goes on now is such a far cry from what flame wars was, it's insulting to the internet to even suggest they are close to similar.
Bollocks.

Yeah Andy, work your magic Banana powers that you no longer have
Honestly, if you're suggesting bringing it back, it should technically belong in Suggestions. And 10 "Yes" votes isn't nearly enough support to bring it back. If 10-20 Yes's could bring in a suggestion, this site would be littered with useless accessories and game types.
Just saying.

I miss Flame Wars greatly but let sleeping dogs lie. It would be a hollow shell of its former self and would serve to do nothing but remind us of how far we've fallen. It was a culimination of a certain time and place with the right people whose time is passed.
