Account Sitting

Is account sitting against the rules?
By this I mean one player using another players account to have their turns for a short period of time, ensuring that they don't miss any when they otherwise would.
I've checked the rules and it's unclear if this would fall under multiple accounts or not, there would be no problem with secret diplomacy (it would obviously not be acceptable if the accounts were in games against each other).
Sorry in advance if this is the wrong place to ask this, I didn't know where else to look to find out so I thought here would be best.
Thanks for any advice.

It is OK.
There is some rules, like, as you said, cannot sit someone if you are playing against him in the same game.
And it cannot be for more than a certain amount of time ( not sure, but like not more than 1 month in a row I think).

Usually you announce it in chat that you are sitting for someone else but it is not compulsory.

No, account sitting is not against the rules. Account sharing is, when two users continue to use the same account, but account sitting is covered here under Community Guidelines:

Account-Sitting:
  • Players are allowed to account-sit for others as long as they are not opponents within the game. When sitting for a player, it is common courtesy to post who you are and how long you will be sitting for the player so that other players in the game are aware of who they are actually playing.
  • Being on another player's account for ANY reasons other than taking turns when they are in danger of missing a turn, or posting to necessary Tournament or Clan related public forum topics, is not allowed. Abuse of this privilege can be considered account sharing and could result in a Bust for both accounts.

The two main types of account sitting are for vacations, which is generally accepted by most users, and taking turns when a player is about to miss turns, which is more controversial. Each, however, falls under the guidelines stated above regarding when players can take a turn for another player.

Okay thank you for taking the time to reply. While I originally joined in 2006, I only started playing again at the end of march this year, hence the massive lack of knowledge (and games) for an account this old ;)
