why not this: beat in poly 4 get 4 unique kills and so on. Max 4 unique kills per opponent.

That won't work. If you used that system, then there would be no purpose to playing poly w/ 2 and 3 slots ever again, unless you allowed unique defeats from beating the same person in poly w/ 2, 3 and 4 slots, which would be excessive.

No, it doesn't make perfect sense unless you have separate medals for 2, 3 and 4 slot poly, like dubs, trips and quads are. Since poly games all go into one medal it wouldn't work.

and non premiums can play them

If you win a quads game and you've beaten already 3 opponents out of the opposing team you just get 1 extra kill. If I play you in poly directly in 4, sure, i'd already have the max amount of poly kills against you if I win but it's not going to stop me from playing 2 or 3. It would only take 2 wins to get the max kills for a given opponent unless you've played him in 4. You're just in the logic that it's a bad idea, but it's way more in the spirit of all the team medals. In fact; it's impossible to get more than 1 unique kill per game unlike other modes... in dubs tris and quads you can get up to 11 new unique kills in a single win... this would just raise the cap to 4.

Maybe there's some miscommunication. From what I understand, you're suggesting:

Poly4 = 4 unique defeats
Poly3 = 3 unique defeats
Poly2 = 2 unique defeats

Since there is only one poly medal, why would you bother playing poly2 or poly3 when it's more worthwhile to get 4 unique defeats from a poly4?

You can't apply the same logic to team games because dubs, trips and quads medals are all separate whereas poly2, poly3 and poly4 aren't.

@JR24 - I agree poly should be available to freemiums, it's not enough of an incentive to upgrade, even combined with everything else.

simply because you don't always play to optimize your medals, and if you do well go ahead. But the same reason why you are not nitpicking only the quad games where you haven't defeated ANY of the 4 opponents.
I'm not medal hunting since a while now, but when I did, of course I'd rather join a game where I hadn't defeated any of the 4 in the quads I was facing, but I wouldn't refuse to play a team where I already had 2 or 3 of the opposition in quads kills.
There are some maps that are much better in poly 2 or poly 3 and the poly unique kill count doesn't seem like a good reason to give up on them because you wouldn't advance as fast. You'd still be advancing 2 to 4 times faster than you do right now...
