Hi,

I'm still pretty new to the site (300+ games) and only play speed games, I do not have the patience for the 24h ones.
Over the last two weeks, there has been almost no action in speed games, the players seem to have disappeared. Any idea why ?

This site has been falling apart for the last 6 years. There are less people everyday so it might just be normal and it will stay that way. If your looking for more games make your own and MAYBE someone is looking to join. My advice is don't get to hopeful about the numbers going up.

If you've got too much time to kill, just play more 24 hour games. I used to play 80-90 games simultaneously and believe me, I could sometimes spend several hours straight playing on CC. Right now I try to keep to around 30, which is fitting to how much time I want to spend on CC.

Lag timed out etc, It is nearly impossible to play speed. It is not always but if you start or join a speed it will happen frequently. Many others have complained and nothing is done to cure the problem, on a permanent basis that is.

217 active at the moment. The speed scene has been dying for 2-3 years from what I gather. I all but stopped playing speed games when freestyle got shafted, although lack of time plays a role in that too.

You should go with Caffeine here when i was running 200 to 300 games at a time it was ALWAYS a speed game if you have enough going at once you will aways have a game to play everytime and anytime you login.

It s always the same crap played over and over again. Luck based 1v1 mostly against people with shit ranks. Try to put something more interesting for you and the game will never fill.
So yeah, i do have fun playing coinflips 1v1, but when you see how costy it is for your score you just avoid it. I went back to playing speeders about a month ago after a very long break, i was a general with a comfortable advance before becoming brig again, and i just played relentlessly against anybody on doodle and all that crap. Just gave away 1000 points.
So yeah, as I ve always said... We should give the option to play speeders for no points or speeders for low stake points just for the fun of it. That would most likely bring people to speed games that don t want to lose points stupidly.

It's not a coin flip if you have any clue what your doing there are only 5 or 6 luck maps on the whole site if you cant turn the luck its you with the problem. Work on your skills before you bitch about no games worth playing.

When playing on maps like Luxemburg or Classic on classical settings and 1v1, it is often(not always) a coinflip. Most moves on such a small map are quite obvious. It is not unusual to have both players constantly make rational moves and the game gets decided by luck(cards, dices or drop).

Don't exagerate, I'm not saying all games are this way, but many of 'm are. This is mostly the case on the smaller maps with classical gameplay. The larger the map or the more complex the gameplay, the less this happens. But let's face it, the game is filled with tiny classical maps.

I'm always up for speed games. Usually do randoms no spoils. I lose quite a bit but Meh still enjoyable.
As for lag I play on a mobile phone. And when I get timed out it takes me a whole 1 or 2 mins to get back in, so idk what the issue with lag is? I'm new though and haven't yet played on a computer.
I tend to float around in the chat room to.

i don't really think you have read or comprehended what they are saying. for instance, i love bamboo jack, it is my favorite map. if i play someone that is not as good as i am on that map, it is pretty much a definite win for me. if i play someone with close to or equal skill on that map, it is a crap shoot based on drop and dice and whatever else luck plays into it. it literally comes down to 1 or 2 turns and how the dice are... if i play someone of lesser skill that doesn't know/understand the map, i can overcome shit turns, shit dice and shit dice... it is just how it is... the black jesus has spoken..-Jésus noir

lol, looks like the striper has a big mouth! I didn't think I had to explain this... but if I play someone your score in 1v1 I probably need to win between 5/6 and 4/5 just to break even. If the maps and settings are too simple, there is no way skill can overcome dice, first turn and spoil luck in order to get an 80%+ win rate against players with a crappy score such as yourself. I'd probably win at 60%+ working on some details, but no way I can make it 80%+. Therefore, I lose tons of points.
The only players with a colonel score and up that can make points out of speed game on the long run are the ones playing freestyle or the ones that create their own complicated games that take hours to fill. Or the ones playing big multiplayer escalating games. Otherwise you just stagnate with a rank of major.
Playing 1v1 is just point dumping.

I just lost to a private in a 1v1 on default settings because I simply couldn't do anything, does that make him the better player? If we play 1v1 on classic flat rate, the luck will have much more influnece than the skill. You really need to be retarded to win only 20% of those against the site's conqueror. It's just completely impossible to reach the win rate required to break even at a certain level of score. And it's completely impossible to go past the rank of major playing only these against any given rank.
well that's what high rankers playing low rankers have to deal with in simple games. 90% of speed games are simple games.
On the long run, you lose points no matter how talented you are, unless you play people with a similar rank to yours. The average rank of speed game players is very low. I hope you finally understood.

You obsess too much about your stupid rank. Two days ago I was a sergeant, today I am a major. Just half a dozen wins (on multi-player games, obviously) brought me from one to the other. Today I have a bunch of losses coming. I might be a lieutenant by this time tomorrow.

Easy come, easy go. If I worried about rank, I couldn't have any fun on this site. Your mother hen approach to your points strait-jackets you into a very narrow selection of games.

Don't start the whole "I play for fun and that's why my rank is low" argument again because it doesn't hold up. I've never seriously played for rank and my high score is a frustrating 2999. However, I do play to win and winning is fun. Playing a game and winning is more fun than losing. I also play with clan-mates and friends, which enhances the experience win or lose.

well I partly agree with you. basically, I have times when I care, times when I don't. In my CC career I've played over half of my games in speed games. At some point it generated much more frustration than fun. It's never a pleasure to rank down, or to lose 70 points to a noob hitting all the 3v3 he can and getting away with it in a luck based game when you know how hard it is to win those back.
At some point, I decided to quit speed games, because I know that if I go on the join a speed game tab i will just go on a joy ride and end up frustrated. So I didn't play any for like a year, and made it up to general. Then I got bored and started playing tons of speed games about a month ago, and lost up to 1000 points compared to my initial score. That takes like 6 month a year to recover.
Each one of us with his own game style you know... if where you get the most fun from is by playing tons of games, win or lose, I totally respect that. If at some point you reach a real win streak that won't be blown by upcomming losses, you might as well start being more and more selective and enjoy beating your own high score. That's how I work at least.
Last year, I got bored of being a major for so long while i had been a colonel for quite some time before that, and after winning a battle royale I decided to stop fooling around and to try to beat my own high score. Believe me, the higher you go the higher you try to get by being more and more selective and trying to improve your skills. I guess you can understand that some people have more fun doing that than facing some noobs that you're supposed to win on 5/6 games to break even in a 20 minutes long luck game.... when you know how many weeks and effort you've spent to win some games against excellent players to get your 20pts.
Well you're gonna need to win 4 hard games against colonels with no losses to recover your loss in that stupid speed game you played against a lieutenant.

bottom line: the speed game scene is shit these days. I love playing speed games, but not at any cost. If I play, I know I will be point dumping and regret it afterwards.
