Now that bW let everyone know in the newsletter, I figured I would take it here, so I can show you some of the awesomeness to expect.

First, there are some radical changes you can make when you mess with neutrals:

Then you can make more-or-less random start scenarios, that will give you chances to try the same thing over and over again (But still making a minor change - note the neutral starting values)
Image

You can make balanced quads scenarios (please give me advice on balance for this one)

Finally, you can relive great moments from games of yore:
Image
This is game 19 more or less. Unfortunately, the change from Asia to Far East got rid of a territory, so it isn't identical. Specifically, Punjab is now red instead of neutral.

Also, to those who like to choose their own territories, now that can be done. Here is a re-creation of a private usergroup game:
Image
All without the threat of losing points!

There are some programming limitations right now.
First off, no polymorphics.
Second, join order is random, which makes the games unsuitable for clans or even for pre-determined teams.

However, I think this takes the cake as the biggest thing in 2014.

Post here for Scenario suggestions, balance advice, etc.

I think that starting with a bonus is too much of an advantage. I like the first one with chineese checkers turned into a conquest map.
Are all those game modes going to be legit games with points? You gotta be careful cause all the unbalanced game modes might break the point system..

They are all no-pointers.

So do you think it would work if France went first, Bulgaria second? The colors can be switched around to ensure that. It is a trench game to eliminate first-turn craziness.

Yes...I also sensed my libido somewhat positevely disturbed upon seeing the chinese checkers map. This would be very interesting

Yea, conquest maps on non-conquest maps is a huge proportion of the scenarios. An awesome thing is that we can crank up the starting troops, so that trench conquest becomes not only fair, but a whole new can of worms.

i can not believe this is not a sticky... i don't think being an item in the newsletter that is forced into every players box, is quite enough... STICKY! STICKY! STICKY! STICKY!...-Jésus noir

oh cool if they are no pointers.
for the 1914 map for example, how are the spoils?

also one thing doom: I think the rules are different, but here in france on the board game you can play with secret objectives. they go like this: conquer africa+ a second continent or eliminate blue from the game (for example). This makes board games faster, but since CC is much faster than the board game... maybe it could be a bit too fast? I don't know, it's a rule on the official board game, so it could definitely be tried. There could be a lot of bluffing on each player's secret objective, and this would be a sort of "advanced assassin game".

if you have no choice wether or not to receive it, it is forced. FACT, it is forced into every box of every user, despite their wishes. and did i accuse you of sticky-ing anything? i merely pointed out that fact that it should be stickied, because being a main newsletter item forced into every CC users box is clearly not enough... why so defensive?! *cough*...-Jésus noir

It isn't forced. It's an opt out, just foe Dispatch or whoever and you won't get it.

Do you think people want to play games with no points? with no points some players are likely to just make stupid moves and disrupt games.

I can imagine more people bitching about losing points in beta-games, so having no points is not bad for testing out something new.

This looks neat! So we can actually play like the old board game rules and choose our own terts? That in itself is a welcome change.

i think it's great if it's for no points and I would just join any mode without fearing to join something totally unballanced.

and now, with the option to play for no point loss, welcome to the SUPER SPECIALIST PLAYER on CC... if this is on the beta site, great... if it is available to all, mistake... we continue to water down the playing field with game options and a glut of sub par maps... now, if point weenies can play for no points, imagine the ghost town this will create...-Jésus noir
