anyone else notice how the GD has just dropped down, yet again in the forum list?!! years ago, the GD was dropped below the FOUNDRY to increase traffic to the FOUNDRY... the mindset being, "people go to the GD, FIRST, because it is above the FOUNDRY. if we move the FOUNDRY ABOVE GD, people will stop by the FOUNDRY, first... didn't really work out... then we suffered through our pretty FORUM tab being removed from the main header and stuck in the upper right hand corner after the forum goers complained... "don't worry, we will put it back to where it was for all those years. don't worry, it will be moved back." still waiting on that one... so funny that they claim to want to bring life back to the forums, and yet they keep doing boneheaded things like this... i am now just content with the fact that TEAM CC doesn't get it... no poll necessary, the black jesus is certain he is correct... now all we need is a few stickies in this dropping forum that have nothing to do with the GD, to make us feel all that CC love they continue to heap on one of the only active areas of the forum... anyone else feeling like a CC orphan?!-Jésus noir™

Making Strategy and Q&A a subforum of GD is a terrible decision. Those were the places that new people were able to find for their (strategic) questions. This change will make that a lot harder, meaning less people will start using the forums.

i agree 100%... that is how i noticed it at first... i was wondering why they were sitting above the GD when i got into the forum... seems like if you were going to do THAT, you would move the GD back to where it originally was, super high on the list!! more people seem to stumble into GD than other forums to ask questions, etc... so, making them sub forums COULD BE a good idea, if they GD were not hovering nearly at the bottom of the page on the list of forums... i just don't get it... maybe team CC thinks all the negative threads in this forum that show up on the landing page for the forums are contributing to the decline... i'd love to hear the reason for this move...

i would have guessed the best place for general discussion would have been in the "general" group and not in the "community" group. while things like "clans" and "SOC training" would be in the "community" group and not in the "general" group.

looks like the same ol', "improve traffic to other parts of the forum, by hiding the popular ones", that has always been the mindset around here... they just don't get it.. and the 2 subforums that are here, don't belong way down here either.. the GD should be way up top, where it once was... this backwards mindset on improving traffic through these means is just flawed and has never proven to work on this site...-Jésus noir™

i doubt anyone just randomly enters a forum. they probably read and enter what they most feel like at the time. most beginners i'm sure would want to enter the general discussion first anyway. because it's general. other people that use the forum already know where they want to go, so i doubt the order really matters to them. i mainly use the "view my posts" link, and rarely enter the board index anyway.

it kind of seems like they don't care about what the regular people say, they are just re-doing the site and going to sit back and prepare for the new hordes to come in and it don't matter to them because they will not have known any different.

Phew, I'm going to bed. This only takes us half-way through the history of the forum. It would be longer if I included all the OT forum names. You can find those changes (and use those changes to get a rough date for these changes by clicking here)

It wasn't a Team CC decision, it would have been an admin one. I found out about this the same way you all did.
Owenshooter, I 100% agree that GD would get more traffic if we moved it up the list and I will be suggesting that too (and Yes, i will give you the credit for it)

I get the feeling that bigWham is trying absolutely everything, just to see what sticks.
I worry a bit that he's not allowing enough time to assess the benefits/downsides of each new configuration.

i learned, while gaining 3 cc credits for a survey, that people with Adult Attention Deficit Disorder, or AADD have trouble making decisions and sticking to them. they suggest medication for adults with that condition. i seriously just took that survey this morning to get my 3 free cc credit tokens.

For fuck's sake, stop moving the goddamn forums around!
