I think I'm about to kill myself...

Just played a 2-player game on Europe - biggest farce of a game ever. The guy started off with Scandanavia and had the first turn - game was over in 3 rounds! :x I want to know if any new xml will prevent this from happening in the future - it's not fair!

2nd point: I've played 4 or 5 sequential 2-player games now and, on each occassion, green always went first. Is this just my bad luck (or good luck as it was in some games) or is it some sort of bug?

To conclude, I will simply say that my computer has taken a bigger battering today than usual

this is why I have suggested a more full proof thing to prevent this from happening. For the first few turns continent bonuses dont count.

Or simply program the game so that nobody starts with a continent...

if continent bonus is held by ____ at beginning of round 1 then
...re-randomize territories

Well if you are defending with 2 defense dice I wouldn't guarantee a successful suicide. :D

The occasional 13 vs. 1 dice roll loss or a player starting with a continent are part of the fun. Sure we could program maps so nothing unusual ever happens but why...? I think this is one of those things that sounds like a better idea than it is.

Bell curves aren't as fun if you chop off the ends.

There was one time I was in a doubles game where the computer "randomly" selected that my partner and I both started the game off with respective bonuses in Alexander's Empire. Obviously we won, and it wasn't much fun.

But in 1v1 (or doubles quite often as well), a player who begins with a continent will win, especially if they go first

Wouldn't work - some of the continents are 1 territory bonuses - thus it would be impossible for a game to be generated.
