Truce in Fog Of War Games

I know that it is rare, but it does happen from time to time.

Here is my question (and I want an official answer, not an "unspoken rule"): If two parties make a truce in FoW, is it okay for those parties to reveal locations of dominant players so that they may survive the game?

As far as I am concerned, as long as the two parties have officially admitted their truce in Game Chat, then any positions and troops revealed in game chat is fair game.

I know that majority of FoW games go on fairly silently in Game Chat, but there are circumstances where two parties may warrant a truce against an obvious threat on the board. I mean, what are we supposed to do? Just lose the game?

Sure. It's fine--even without the truce.

Some people won't like it because it reveals to others their chances of pulling off a victory.

But...is that official though?

There is absolutely no rule that forbid you to reveal position in fog game, truce or not.
So yes it is official.
You can reveal all positions and stacks.

The problem is that you must reveal the information in the game chat, so everyone will be able to read it, not just the other involved in the truce.

There have been some C & A cases about this subject.... here is just 1 from a quick search

Fog of War Games:
  • Using the game chat to announce where a player's territories and troops may (or may not ;) ) be is NOT against the rules. It may come across as unfair or not in the spirit of the game, but feel free to find strategic applications of this non-rule.

Thanks for the post! I had a player tell me that I was not supposed to reveal other players' locations in Game Chat, and I wanted to clarify that issue. I am sure he isn't really complaining, because he ended up winning with the truce; but I didn't want any other players to think that I was being a "cheat" or "playing unfair".

You'll have a lot who get upset about it or tell you it's against the rules n closing etc
But ultimately it is not against the rules, as razor pointed out.

If someone does give information from under the fog, you can't be 100% sure it's true anyway. Although sometimes the player being spoken about gets rather annoyed and makes it obvious.
