Conquer Club

I find that I usually have great luck attacking an army of 5 troops, as opposed to 4 or 2. What's up with this? Also, I find that a player that clearly has game advantage and also is higher ranked is harder to attack and you have worse luck against them. Am I the only one that has ever noticed this?
