but since so many people miss on purpose now (in speed games) i've stopped, unless it's someone i've played against a few times

As a majority rule, I simply won't bother.

However as you say - if I have past (Pleasant) experience with them then I will.

They can always turn on the message notification to let them know a game has started. From the first turn onwards they should be aware of the game.

I just started putting a total team missed turn clause in tournaments. Four misses for your team over the whole tournament and you lose. Two teams out in 3rounds. Now I am going to make an exception for a team member that has to be replaced because of RL emergency.

I hate waiting for someone to miss a turn.

If I see opposition close to missing a game in my games I get all excited and clap my hands constantly until I see that they've missed. However, if they manage to make the turn then I throw my goldfish off my lap and down a bottle of Russian Standard.
