Truce Question

If someone proposes me a truce, does that mean it is only a border truce? That seems bogus to me - so he can take me out everywhere except where my borders are?

The truce is up to you to negotiate. So ask him, how should we know XD!

I meant this: someone says "yellow, truce?"
I say "yes, one turn heads up?"
he says "yes"

then two turns later starts taking my countries and when I call him out, he says "truces are only for borders"

I say that is pretty much crap. thoughts?

There are no rules regarding truces. (Other than they can only be discussed in game chat.) Lying, breaking deals, and manipulating your opponents are all fair game. Feel free to rate as you feel appropriate.

im not even mad or looking for a poor rating, im just confused - what I want to know is this: he is telling me that ALL truces are border truces and acting like i'm an asshole because I don't know this. I have not found this to be true in other games so im wondering if this some kind of standard thing that I don't know about? basically, im telling him that he needs to specify if it is just a border truce and he is saying no he doesn't because its assumed that's all it is

Truce usually concerns only bonus. Taking abour classic map for example you have europe and he has africa, he ask for truce and you say yes, means he wont break any of your bonus. But if you have one region in north america, there is no reason for that one to be concerned by the truce.

He is then right that truce usually concern only bonus, and stack of course, if you are having a 20 troops stack on that north american region, taking it while you have a truce would be breaking the truce too. But a 3 is totally ok if not breaking a bonus.

Different people interpret the term truce differently so it is always advisable to clarify exactly what the terms of the truce are.

I agree with trini, usually clarify a specific area / bonus / region.
