How much does your lady hate CC?

While I don't play a great many games here (active usually less than 10) I must admit that I log into CC more than 10 times a day and probably spend at least two hours on this site per day..sometimes much more than that. It is quite possible for me to spend hours talking about games on the phone, or meeting spazzattack for a coffee and a cc-chat. Of course I post in GD a lot and it is without question a fact that CC has been my main, all-consuming, interest for many years.

However, I am glad to say that option 3 describes my lady's attitude to CC perfectly. Generally I cut down a bit when she is staying with me. However, I must admit that one of the reasons I have been very active this last 18 months is that for much of the time we haven't been in the same country, never mind city. I suspect I will have to cut CC down more and permanently once we both settle down to live in Qing Dao next month.

I would suggest that currently my girlfriend's attitude to CC would basically be that is cheap, it is better than me wasting my cash getting blasted in bars, I'm using my brain etc. However this may well change next month as I'm fairly convinced that my current CC habits on a daily basis might well, quite rightly some might say, piss her off.

Nonetheless, my main method of limiting female angst when she is with me is to get the bulk of my CC done before she wakes up. I tend to get up an hour or so earlier and this is the best time to do my general CC pottering about the forums, checking messages etc. Luckily I have the kind of job that allows me numerous breaks through the day (I tend to have 3 hours off in a 7 hour day) so there is CC time there. Of course planning with spazz is done in the evenings, typically on the phone when girlfriend is around.

So i have never had an argument about CC with her and I would suggest this is mainly due to:
a) getting up earlier
b) having a lot of time when I am at work
c) not playing too many games
(and finally key)
d) not playing speed games in the evening

I married a girl I met here on CC, so my/our use of the site has never been a problem between us.

Bollocks.

As far as I can tell, my wife does not know this website exists.

Okay boys, let's face it, I am sure some of you would be miffed if your lady spent too much time on an online game or facebook.
I don't think most women would mind, so long as it's not an absolute addiction where you never go out anywhere and sit at the computer during all of your free time.

I used to play another online strategy game, and well... there were a few guys in my alliance who were forced to quit by their wives. "Me or the game' kinda thing. haha. I could see the point though. They weren't spending time with their wife and kids and were on the game for hours at a time. Sometimes taking it so seriously that they kept their computer beside their bed at night so they could be warned about raids while they slept. (There was a truce option that you could apply for 12 hours if you were worried about an enemy close by.) A bit excessive, me thinks. I was playing the game a lot myself and was one of the biggest players in the game, but when I saw just how much time they wanted me to spend on it with them, and verbally attacking me when I didn't help in raids, I knew that it was no longer fun and that I wasn't prepared to put that much time into it. It was just a handful of people who took the game too seriously. When they joined us, it went too far imo. We were already top of the game, so it wasn't needed. I had a boyfriend, school and a life that I was happy with, so I didn't need that bs.

So yeah... balance.

My wife has no one to blame but herself. She took me to a party with her co-workers and a couple guys were talking about their games on CC. I was standing there with my wife and I had to ask what they were talking about. They told me about the site and I joined a few days later. I am guessing she still regrets taking me there to this day. She does not like the site but deals with it.

My lowest low of CC addiction....in December my family was at Disneyworld. I told my wife I had to use the toilet so I could take a turn without distractions. I went into the stall like I had to do a number 2.

I have also passed on "snuggle time" after extracurricular activities to catch up on turns.

I am self employed....very easy to spend more time than I should on this site without worrying about getting in trouble with the boss. Instead I could just end up going bankrupt and my business failing.

LOL...that is wrong on so many levels. My other half does not care one bit. She is always happy for anything that makes me happy :). I also own my company so I log on during the work day whenever I want. I have even got a few of my employees playing.

Do they let you win when you play them??

I was at a library and got HPV from a mouse while I was playing CC and gave it my lady.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Since I would rather spend time with my life than interacting with all of you (no offense intended), this is not problematic for me. My wife is likely more concerned about the status that football and work take in my life than she is with games.

My girlfriend is very glad I play CC and not some videogame. Those demand enormous amounts of time in one go, where CC can really just take 5 minutes if she's ready for some "snuggle time".

I picked up Age of Empires 2 HD a few weeks ago. I don't play it a lot, only with her sister (now that must sound a lot worse than it actually is). The annoyance she gets from AoE is mainly that I'm completely caught up in the game. On CC it's easier to have a conversation when you play an already won or lost game.

My wife used to hate the site a few years back due to the time I would spend here. That led to her watching me play on occasion, then wanting to take my turns - which immediately led to buying her an account here heh.

She really enjoys playing here now as well, although we both go through the cycles each year of getting bored with it and dropping to little or no games for a while then getting back into it and joining way too many tourneys :-)

Lots of litterature about this in c&a

Regarding the question: single right now, but at times where I had girlfriends since i m on the site i tried to hide it as much as possible as it s not too easy to explain why i m hooked up to some browser game. I did use the toilet trick with the phone a few times like chris! :D

This...
I was accused of using multi's and of cheating because I was winning almost every game. The truth is that they were very bad players. I played Kings II with one of them maybe 50 times and he NEVER won. It wasn't till around game 30 that he realized there were commercial bonus' .
I no longer play with them as I got tired of their bad play and as well as the snide remarks I got from other members of this site.

How considerate of you to stop playing with him after winning fifty times.

yeah the strange thing was more that you would beat some of them almost 100 times straight on classic (even whambot the random dropper/attacker/bonus clueless would do better), on king's court 2 it s more understadable. you did well to stop playing those games, cause it was shady to say the least.

Many say that playing 1v1s/FFAs against acquaintances or friends is dishonorable. At CC you've got to drop your RL friends or play only as a team.

LOL...a bit of hyperbole? I played 56 singles games on the classic map against the guys in the office. I have only played the classic map 138 times in total against all opponents. I am sure, from your perspective, that it looks shady. But, that is just not the case.

I was not trying to be considerate as he wanted to keep on playing. Not sure why it matters to so many that I liked to play with my friends even when they were not very good. We had a blast playing team games. Read some of our chat logs and you will see how much fun it created in the office...

You realize I do not care? You somehow felt the need to interject your smart-ass comment and I tried to not sink down to your level so I gave an honest response. For that I get your sarcasm. You do not know me yet you feel comfortable judging me. Speaks strongly to your character...
