Conquer Club, The rebirth

The last 4 weeks has seen many changes at this site, but most notably is an increase in active users; 467 of them have either returned or joined.

The biggest increase being in the last 7 days.

What could have caused this? It couldn't be that awful new homepage that many of you have complained about? Looks like it is working to me

Right, it's definitely the homepage, which has received almost 100% NEGATIVE feedback. It has nothing to do with the fact that in the northern hemisphere, it's getting cold outside, and people will typically spend more time online or indoors than in the summer. Probably has nothing to do with this week being a holiday week in the United States, meaning people are home from work/school and looking for things to do.

And if you're talking about returning people, how many are saying "what's this nonsense on the homepage??", sign in anyway, then say after they've logged in "oh ok, well at least the entire site didn't get fucked up". You can't give any credit to your "new and jazzy homepage!! :D" when talking about returning users. They know what the site is, and they are returning for whatever reason, not because your homepage looks dumb, childish, and like something straight out of the 90's.

Point is, don't you think it's a bit of a stretch to pat yourself on the back after one week when virtually ALL the feedback has been negative?

Bollocks.

How much time are you people spending on the home page? It only shows up when I need to sign in. I do that then move on. Also can anyone explain what they don't like? ~cries~ vomit. Doesn't help me understand.

Yeah, I don't like it either, but then I like to play the game, not ogle the home page, but as a means for attracting new members the complaints about the new home page are still valid.

I don't think complaining about the home page will attract new people but it is the internet, so maybe more whiners will sign up to get in on the bitching.

Unfortunately, you only get it if you are already logged in, so its kind of useless... but it gives me a glimmer of hope.

It's supposed to be the number of users that have registered over the years

Who does the proofreading on Team CC? ;)

From the homepage:

"Originally inspired by the board game RISKā„¢, Conquer Club has taken Risk online, expanding the concept to included over 200 maps, playing bots, casual and speed games, numerous gameplay options, tournaments, clans and more! So now you can play a game like Risk online with many thousands of other players and an endless variety of styles.

If you wish to play casually, a few minutes per day is all that is required. If you want to delve deeper, Conquer Club offers many options for hardcore strategy game players and online Risk experts."

'Included' should be 'include' in the first sentence.

I think it could use a little bit of a revision to freshen it up and be grammatically correct.

I disagree with that comment about the homepage attracting people. Sorry. But yeah, before that page when up, there was increases. Check the thread about "Is CC declining?"

I don't think it lets whoever created the homepage off the hook. It still needs a revisit.
