In freestyle mode, if I attack from territory "A" to territory "B" and my opponents attacks from B to A, who rolls the 'white' dice, and who rolls the 'red' dice? How are the attacker and the defender defined?

I wouldn't worry about that if I were you…

Each player only sees the dice rolls for the attacks that he makes. A player never sees the dice rolls for the attacks that are made against him. Those rolls are seen by the player who is making the attack.
Hope that helps.

freestyle is ...complicated.
What happens is you attack at the same time. Which is kinda weird.

I dislike freestyle, i lose a continent at the beginning of my turn, before I have even received the award for owning it!

Eh you play freestyle when you have a lot of time on your hands to constantly moniter your opponents actions... erm.. i usually play 3 sequentials and 1 freestyle just so i don't have to wait for EVERYONE to finish.
