It's called not wanting to lose points - all the really good players either play team games for easy points or private games with big players. I don't like it much myself because I play a lot of public standard games. Unfortunately, I am a captain and am losing more and more points to striped players. But, I still prefer those games to team games - way more fun.

Use the Game Finder to find singles games, they tend to go pretty quickly but you can find them. If you cannot find one to your liking, just go ahead and start your own.

I'd imagine the name has something to do with the fact that you can't find a doubles partner...

There's a lot of people on the site that like to play with themselves, it's just that most of them prefer to do it in private (games).

I started about 30 standard games, i was LT but i lost a good majority of those games and was bumped down to 800 points...Now ask yourself "Why do all the players play trips or doubles?"

There seem to be plenty of standard games going. I never have trouble finding any. And you can certainly start them yourself.

I know the logic behind playing doubles/triples to accrue points, but as others have said in this thread it's more fun playing singles/standard games with new people.

And anyway I would disagree that it's difficult to get points without playing team games; check my signature ;)

(I've played a couple of doubles games, but lost them both. )

I really do think there should be separate scoreboards for standard/terminator/assassin (those three together since they are 'singles' games) and doubles and triples (three scoreboards in total). I'm sure there must be threads in "Suggestions & Bug Reports", but I can't find them ...

well thats simple

teaming on 3 player games- nothing like wining a game only to lose because the other 2 players teamed up on you

secret alliances- dont happen in team games

missed turns- could happen in a team game, but your team can fort you until your next turn

negative feedback- my 6 feedbacks are from singles because one player in the game got upset.... pussy Pedro. and if he words it correctly, it stands. doesnt matter if he made the shit up and provided zero documentation.... Haz

suicide attacks- if you create a player to lose, he responds by attacking you so you dont win.

assasin games- players dont know what their targets are and the other player wins because he eliminated the wrong color

multis- self explained

how many reasons do you want? I got over 3,000 games logged in.

guess how many singles games i played up to 250 rounds because nobody moves? Thats fun? thats in both no cards and flat rate.

i love the team games...even the ones with JR..

working with someone to take down the other team is great...you theoretically have a 50/50 shot..

but i play many singles games of all types, except assasin...of course, ive also happpened to lose 1000 points over the last 2 weeks...

I thought i was the only one who noticed =p

I'm sure (or i think i'm sure) that back when i started over half of the games were people playing with themselves. now 95% of the games are people playing in groups. I guess they just can't bear to be alone.

They're just hoping that unsuspecting newbies will join and they can get some easy points.

I play doubles for points and singles for fun. The higher ranked players won't play singles usually though because of the huge point loss... and I can sympathise. even in doubles I usually have to win 2 to cover for one loss, and that's just because my partner is rapidly approaching major. I'd hate to think what it'd be like if we were both that high.

maybe it has something to do with new recruits not being able to join doubles games therefore less chance of a deadbeat slowing down the game?

thats what i thought when i noticed all the doubles/triples games going on

I play about 50 games at a time and 90 % of them are singles but I rarely join public games anymore for the reasons JR outlined earlier.
Everybody complains that higher ranks stick together but what is stopping you Sgts Lts Captains from organising games amongst yourselves - it only takes 5 minutes to set up a game and send invites by PM.

simple...win 5 games lose 1 and you break even... but thats more like two high colonels playing lower ranks

actually now doubles is much more even ranks playing similar ranks since newbies cant join team games

I've just started playing more group games lately for a few reasons:

- Education: I consider myself a good player but there's still more for me to learn. I get a lot from working with someone and being exposed to their thought processes as they play.

- Safety Net: Every so often my luck runs thin. It's nice to have someone there that has my back when the going gets rough.

- Complexity: There's only so much depth that you can get out of single player games, ignoring politics of course. I find doubles and triples games to offer a better range of approaches, rewarding the good strategists and cooperators over the lucky newbies.

- Speed: It's very rare to find a deadbeat, and most players tend to take their turns pretty fast.

- Something Different: Having played singles games for a while now it's nice to spice things up and think of the game in a different light.
