We, the Old Guard

The story of CC is being swept away by the greater story of online, web-based gaming. More and more people are attracted to the market of flashy animations with its more interactive and immediate gameplay. CC is like Shakespeare or the Ulysses within our times. Most will open the tome and be daunted by the challenge---a challenge which seems tedious and boring. They will view that mountain of a learning curve and walk away--scorning the appreciative view from the top. "Why bother with climbing and cooperation? It is better to drain a cup of Angry Birds, of Robot Unicorn, of Tower Dfenses, of herburb a durg."

Compare this quaint pond of CC to the vast oceans of web-based and smartphone games. Watch them cruise the seas of plug-and-play. See them bask in the visually appealing, the easily intuitive, and the quickly rewarding--all at a much lower cost. How can we beat their lower prices and lesser times required to 'excel'? And listen to the wails emanating from their party boats: "No caveats, no nuances, and no uncertainty. Gimme pleasure! Gimme easy! Give it nao! and don't say, 'no'."

CC may be failing to reach the right audience, but you can't turn an old man into a beautiful young women. My fellow Conquer Clubbers, we are the last of a dying species of gamer. We are the Old Guard, who have seen our share of battles, and so we will remain in the good times of past glory. Our once mighty ship can only rust, brittle, and break as the sea of new ranks overwhelm us, but don't let this dismay you. Why not accept the inevitable--with our heads held high? Let us enjoy our fleeting moments as we sink to our page in history.

Hold your ground, hold your ground! Sons of Conquer Club, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the age of Conquer Club comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you *stand, Men of Conquer Club!*

What a load of bollox.

If CC is good enough, it will survive. If it isn't, then it will ultimately wither and die and damn good job too.

As for you BBS, I cannot imagine where you got this dose of loquaciousness from except perhaps the bottom of a wine glass.

Bullocks - very useful creatures for pulling drays, logging, and feeding multiple people.

CC is an example of evolution in the post digital era. Argue with that theists.

The old guard may yet live to see the changing of the guard, as that which was old, is now reborn as new. The cyclic nature of fashion, human attention span, and creative endeavour all conspiring to eventually making even this tired, jaded, old raddled whore of a site fashionable once more.

Vale exceptionalism, hello mediocrity. The sun is setting in the west, the time of the elves is passing.......

Hope that makes you prick up your pointy little ears
