Polymorphic games - Missing turns

When a player misses three turns in a polymorphic game does that count for 3 turns per morph? Or just 3 turns meaning if blue misses, then green misses and then red misses, that counts as three and the player is eliminated?

Currently each color has its own 3 turn counter.
A suggestion has been made to change this.
