The answer is yes for every game type except terminator. In terminator games you still have to take out the players armies to get points for beating them.

if the deadbeat aquired any cards, would you also get these cards if you eliminated them?

also i think this situation is a bit odd, maybe the last person remaining could just gain the points from the deadbeat, that is if they survive to the end.
