Deleting In-game chat - question

Postby Jork on Tue May 22, 2007 8:41 am

Someone help this old geezer out!

In one of my games, my partner made a less-than-complimentary remark to me. I now see that the remark is no longer there?

I'm assuming now there must be a way to delete in-game chat messages (I thought they were there for all eternity!).

How do we do this?

Thnx for any help!

If you did, then the message isn't really gone you just can't see it. Take him off your ignore-list and then you'll be able to see it again. Then you can put him back on your ignore-list if you want.

Well having sorted out that I think an option to delete your game chat posts would be a good idea. I'm sick and tired of saying something and then immediately thinking 'Oh shit, that was a big mistake' or 'I shouldn't have said that'.

It's not like it would be particularly hard to code I imagine.
If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?

Chewyman:
I know what you mean about regretting something said. I completely lost my temper at STOOKER for questionable sportsmanship. I said some things i am not proud of.

Would i like to be able to delete them? Yes!
I do feel i was justified in my reproach of his conduct, I am just not proud of the style in which I conducted myself.

The thing is, if we had a delete button, wouldn’t it give a distorted and edited version of behaviour/events?

I think so; game chat is a record which should be fixed in my opinion.

Not sure that would be a good idea. The game chat helps document the game and can thereby be useful in resolving accusations of cheating, accusations of violating alliances, etc. If you could alter the record in that way it would be much less useful.

Before you click the Post Message button, you should remember that what you post can be seen by everyone, not just the other players in the game. A little self-control is a beautiful thing.
