Just sad

Postby oggiss on Wed May 16, 2007 3:18 am

I have got this bad dice ( a month ago). I loose all the time when my army has less power or has equal power with my opponent. for example..... 20 vs 12 ends up 2 vs 2, that's sad. I can understand if it happens occasionally, but all the ******* time. It's impossible.... it's sad that you guys (the mods) do this to certain players just to get them out of here. I have paid for my ******* premium membership and shall have that one year and then someone shouldn't trash that shit for me!!!!!

Hope you guys fix this else.... ^_^

Umm...the dice are random? And you just remember the bad times. And you don't see your defensive dice!

If you think this is some big conspiracy theory, you're moron.

Yeap, random dice.
they'll come good for you over time.

when you compare it to real dice and a physical game of Risk the dice do appear to be ridiculous and impossible sometimes. This must be down to the sheer number of rolls you make online compared to those in the boardgame. (i mean honestly.. when did you have 40 games going at once in the real world?) hehe and who knows, maybe real dice can be controlled by the mind.. i am sure craps-players will attest to that!
However it is more likely that the successful dice roller, online or physical, simply adjusts strategy to lessen the impact of probability.

so don't blame the dice, blame your tactics. (i truly do not wish to be hard to a sad person but you do need to take conspiracy from your mind or it will ruine the game for you)

lack doesnt have time to install updates let alone write an algorithm to fix the dice for some of the thousands of players in here...

big piles will show some pretty random results....and I dont reccomend auto in that situation...if you clicked through individually, you could have stopped when you saw it was a lost cause

ive thrown 140000 dice in here...my results are practically exactly what statistics would predict...most of the numbers are exact. but i have weeks where I cant lose, and weeks where I cant win...ive seesawed from 2300 to 1400 to 2600, to 1800 again....

I would love to blame someone else for purposely doing this to me, but obviously its my fault...everyone has the same dice. everyone...just not in the short run.

the dice are about as "random" as any supposedly "random" numbers generated by computers, ie. they basically blow. I get the impression that too many people think the dice are not random, as far as i remember computers have trouble generating truley random numbers

The random numbers are generated from atmospheric noise and come from http://www.random.org.

Even if the numbers came from a computer pseudo-random number generator they could be proven to have the characteristics of random numbers after the fact. There are tests you can run against supposedly random numbers to determine whether in fact they have the characteristics of random numbers. In fact, random.org does this continually, that is, test that the random numbers being generated are really random.

One could imagine a poor pseudo-random number generator for which you could determine a pattern. Even knowing the pattern does not mean that it would be of any benefit to you because all attackers would be pulling random numbers from such a generator in an asynchronous manner. That is to say, you would never be guaranteed to get anymore than 5 random numbers from the generator at any one time (for a 3v2 attack). You don't get to see the numbers before you get them so knowing the pattern of the poor pseudo-random number generator would have no predictive power. Assuming that such a poor random number generator could produce equal numbers of 1's 2's 3's 4's 5's and 6's over long periods of time even though there might be a discernible pattern (if you had access to the all the random numbers generated, which no player has) knowing the pattern would not help a player much because an individual player has no control over other individual players requesting random numbers from the generator. In other words, the random nature of the requests for numbers from the random number generator would tend to eliminate any non-randomness in the underlying random number stream.
Cheers,

Here's the funny part for me--I've always been miserably unlucky in dice games, whether live or online...never cared all that much because I figure I get a pretty fair shake in the important things in life,y'know? On this site though,I have to admit my luck's been at least average, which I'll happily take anytime! I just hope whoever's "controlling" the dice doesn't decide to show me who's boss!

Sounds reasonable. But I can't play 3 x 3 vs 1 without loosing none, it's basically impossible for me. For example; I win 2 in a row without loosing anything then on the third attempt I loose like 2-5 armies ;( I mean WTF

I personally would rather face a 10 man army than try and take 5 single army regions. You cannot even begin to comprehend how much worse the dice got for single armies that when I started playing...

As they look over the world's painful panorama of war and terror, some people conclude that it is too late, that no amount of information or activity could possibly expand people's understanding of The Dice's shiftless beliefs. But those who take that pessimistic view understand neither The Dice nor its current rung on the ladder to total power. Let me begin by saying that The Dice believes that the only way to expand one's mind is with drugs -- or maybe even chocolate. That's just wrong. It further believes that post-structuralism is a be-all, end-all system that should be forcefully imposed upon us. Wrong again! Far too many people tolerate The Dice's treatises as long as they're presented in small, seemingly harmless doses. What these people fail to realize, however, is that The Dice wants to attack everyone else's beliefs. You know what groups have historically wanted to do the same thing? Fascists and Nazis. If I understand The Dice's zingers correctly, then the law is not just a moral stance. It is the consensus of society on our minimum standards of behavior.

If some people are offended by my mentioning that I am skeptical of The Dice's efforts to produce a perverted definition of "interdestructiveness", then so be it. That reminds me: The Dice keeps trying to waste hours and hours in fruitless conferences and meetings. And if we don't remain eternally vigilant, it will clearly succeed. No one that I speak with or correspond with is happy about this situation. Of course, I don't speak or correspond with vapid, nerdy prevaricators, The Dice's expositors, or anyone else who fails to realize that The Dice's satraps have learned their scripts well and the rhetoric comes gushing forth with little provocation. The Dice's most nefarious tactic is to fabricate a phony war between brown-nosing malingerers and the worst types of callow gauleiters there are. This way, it can subjugate both groups into helping it reap a whirlwind of destroyed marriages, damaged children, and, quite possibly, a globe-wide expression of incurable sexually transmitted diseases. I certainly don't want that to happen, which is why I'm telling you that if you've never seen The Dice leave behind a wake of unimaginative reaction, you're either incredibly unobservant or are concealing the truth from yourself. Even though The Dice gives flattering titles to its natural distempers, if the people generally are relying on false information sown by laughable, grotty demoniacs of one sort or another, then correcting that situation becomes a priority for the defense of our nation. I must emphasize this because it has been said that The Dice's yes-men must mend their ways. I believe that to be true. I also believe that it talks a lot about pharisaism and how wonderful it is. However, it's never actually defined what it means. How can The Dice argue for something it's never defined? I could give you the answer now, but it would be more productive for me first to inform you that The Dice likes to posture as a guardian of virtue and manners. However, when it comes right down to it, what it is pushing is both wicked and snooty.

The Dice's belief systems are like hothouse plants. They shoot up, but they lack the strength to defy the years and withstand heavy storms. When The Dice tells us that "the norm" shouldn't have to worry about how the exceptions feel, it somehow fails to mention that its vassals care more about speaking, acting, and even thinking like The Dice than they care about what makes sense. It fails to mention that it disturbs me that these wretched lunatics have so little tolerance for differing points of view. And it fails to mention that if this letter did nothing else but serve as a beacon of truth, it would be worthy of reading by all right-thinking people. However, this letter's role is much greater than just to complain about blasphemous boors. When The Dice's snotty utterances are translated into plain, words-mean-things English, it appears to be saying that embracing a system of antipluralism will make everything right with the world. For me, this conniving moonshine serves only to emphasize how my general thesis is that The Dice had previously claimed that it had no intention to promote group-think attitudes over individual insights. Of course, shortly thereafter, that's exactly what it did. Next, it denied that it would make life less pleasant for us. We all know what happened then. Now, The Dice would have us believe it'd never ever prime the pump of revanchism. Will it? Go figure. My view is that you might have heard the story that The Dice once agreed to help us encourage our spirits to soar. No one has located the document in which The Dice said that. No one has identified when or where The Dice said that. That's because it never said it. As you might have suspected, The Dice is the type of organization that can look you right in the eye and, with an expression of the utmost sincerity, tell you any kind of whopper that suits its purpose. Now, I could go off on that point alone, but in a recent essay, it stated that bad things "just happen" (i.e., they're not caused by The Dice itself). Since the arguments The Dice made in the rest of its essay are based in part on that assumption, The Dice should be aware that it just isn't true. Not only that, but the point at which you discover that it makes me sick to think that The Dice might tear down everything that can possibly be regarded as a support of cultural elevation in the near future is not only a moment of disenchantment. It is a moment of resolve, a determination that it has never inscribed its name on the Parthenon of human excellence, either mental or moral. So what's the connection between that and its methods of interpretation? The connection is that it's possible that The Dice has gone way too far with its no-compromise attitude. However, I cannot speculate about that possibility here because I need to devote more space to a description of how The Dice has delivered exactly the opposite of what it had previously promised us. Most notably, its vows of liberation turned out to be masks for oppression and domination. And, almost as troubling, The Dice's vows of equality did little more than convince people that The Dice's goombahs have been staggering around like punch-drunk fighters hit too many times -- stunned, confused, betrayed, and trying desperately to rationalize The Dice's batty assertions. It is decidedly not a pretty sight. I'll talk a lot more about that later, but first let me finish my general thesis: The pen is a powerful tool. Why don't we use that tool to begin the debate about The Dice's expostulations? Of perhaps even more concern is that The Dice takes things out of context, twists them around, and then neglects to provide decent referencing so the reader can check up on it. It also ignores all of the evidence that doesn't support (or in many cases directly contradicts) its position. I would like to close by saying that we cannot allow fetishism-oriented, unrealistic televangelists to pass unnoticed.
