protocol of playing a team game

i am playing a doubles game. my partner is down to one country with one army. he has 4 bonus cards. what happens if i attack him and knock him out of the game? am i also knocked out? do i get his cards?
what happens if someone else knocks him out? am i also knocked out?

Take him out. You'll get his cards. If somebody else takes him out, they'll get his cards. You won't get taken out if he is though, so don't worry about that.

If you knock him out, you get his cards and you continue playing. It's actually a common strategy to eliminate your partner for his cards so your opponents can't benefit from them.
If your opponent knocks him out then they recieve his cards, but they still have to knock you out to win the game.
