There are no more Pfennige, not since the introduction of the Euro. And the OED is not what I would call a dictionary of contemporary language, english or otherwise.

There are no more Pfennige, not since the introduction of the Euro. And the OED is not what I would call a dictionary of contemporary language, english or otherwise.
There aren't any more groats, either, but that doesn't stop it being a perfectly valid word. Plus, I defy you to find an acceptable* - and comprehensive - English dictionary that doesn't have "pfennig" in it.

* An unacceptable dictionary would of course be one without the word "pfennig".
