Is it considered cheating to skip a turn on purpose just so you can get a surge of armies? I read the FAQ/Contact area and it said...
20. Why do people get extra armies when they miss turns?
The fact is that things come up in real life and many people cannot reach a computer every single day. People who missed a turn are not receiving any bonus, only the armies they would have normally received. Getting the armies for turns missed encourages people to return and continue playing the game, which is one the most important things. A decent player will be able to keep track of how many missed armies an opponent can add, and act strategically to counter the extra armies.
The reason I'm asking is because I am currently in a game with GuRoove and he won't shut up about it in and out of the game (I know him outside of Conquer Club.) so I want to see what other people think about this in hopes that he will stop harrassing me about it.

No, that's not OK. It's retarded to do that. It doesn't even work most of the time.

Yes, it's a perfectly viable strategy.
However, many players consider it bad sportsmanship, and at the very least it's an inconvenience since you make everyone else have to wait a full day to take their turn. If you've got premium? Not so bad. If you don't have premium, then, well, you're screwing a bunch of people over.
Expect negative feedback, and expect to have it stick.

It's not considered cheating until lack decides it is. However, it's really annoying when it's done in a sequential game. And besides, it's a retarded tactic, you can also lose armies if you just sit there doing nothing for a whole round.

OK, Most of you believe that it is wrong because it makes the other people in the game have to wait, or because it's a bad strategy, But what I am asking you is if you think it's considered cheating. I'm just not sure everyone got that, Cause that's what GuRoove thinks.

Cheating? No.
The single most identified and whined about site design? Yes.

Whoa whoa whoa. Just because I used the term "cheating" doesn't actually mean I mean "cheating". It could mean that I just couldn't think of a different term at the time(which obviously it did).
And its Guroove not GuRoove

I think it sucks too and some players exploit it all the time, but it's not cheating, it's a tactic.
I was in a game where the eventual winner --who was across the Asia Map out of my reach-- was fortified and missed 7 turns over the course of the game. The players on that border patiently waited for them to eventually take their turn and did nothing. The bonus was multiplied multiple times over the course of the game creating a bulbously fortified region that easily stomped them.
Someone misses turns in your game... kick 'em, KICK 'EM HARD!
and never allow a large 3x bonus in your game.
I would still like to see players who miss their first turn, even after being notified that thier game has begun via email, kicked out of the game and eliminate the wait on noobs who join a game and never come back to play.

You know Guroove, I think you're blowing this out of proportion. I have only ever missed one turn on conquer club, The one which sparked this whole topic, and if I hadn't skipped that turn I probably already would have lost that game.

It's not cheating, but it's using the game mechanics in a way other than intended.

how can you possibly know wheather they inteneded to miss their turn? and there's really not a better way to deal with it, less armies or something?

it is not cheating, but i consider it a very devious way to win, and would definately consider using the ignore list for people that regularly skip turns. i consider 3 missed turns in a game (all together or seperately throughout the game) validity for a negative feedback UNLESS an explanation is offered or forewarning given.

I agree with alex about numerous missed turns in one game being a legitimate reason for negative feedback,
unless they notify you before or apologize after in the game chat for being gone.
I was actually in a game recently where after many rounds of tight play someone posted in the chat,
"Go ahead and kill me off as this is my last turn, I'm leaving tomorrow and will be gone for 5 days."

Intrinsically, there are drawbacks to missing turns in games with cards. By depriving yourself of a card, you lose the opportunity to possibly get a cash earlier. In no card games, there's really no reward to being aggressive and playing. That's why I hate deadbeats in no card games because they just use the round multiplier to build up massive forces.

the people that usually pull this crap are the ones losing so they think they will get ahead by doing it
I personally thinks its retarded to reward them with any armies
yea...some people cannot make it to a comp everyday...but at the same time..why join any games if you know you can't use a comp every day..and you know you have to possibly take a turn every 24 hours?
Most players...I think...are using it to take advantage of the system...BECAUSE...its not considered cheating
and I agree.. with all those saying yes...they're on my ignore list now too!

Looking back over my post, which was written during a short break from essay writing, I realized I wasn't exactly clear:
Doing this on purpose sucks. I voted "viable tactic" because it isn't illegal by the system, but I have and will continue to give negative feedback to missing a lot of turns. I've been in too many games lately that have lasted over two weeks because of this kind of this to take it lightly, especially when I can't afford to get premium at the moment.
Anyway, uh, take me off your ignore lists. I'm conscientious. Really.

That is probably the best way to put it.

IMO its just a horrible way to play. Unfortunately it is viable but if someone does it consistently I get pissed off big time.

Only 2 weeks? You lucky devil.
