Map suggestions?

Postby CBlake on Tue Jan 08, 2013 6:03 am

Hey guys, I don't really play any of the new maps and I was wondering which ones are good for what (Dubs, Singles, etc.)
I don't really prefer the large maps with several territories, which seem to be the more popular ones, especially by the more skilled players.

There are maps specialized for all types of settings.
If you don't like lots of neutrals, here are some maps I recommend:

1v1; Africa II, Circus Maximus, Luxembourg, Doodle
Dubs; American Civil War
Quads; Iberia
4-5 players standard; Eastern Hemisphere, Pearl Harbor
8 players; Supermax: Prison Riot!
Fog; England

those are hardly 'new' maps.

New is a relative word. And he's and old user, new for him may well be old for most others.

so is fat but most of us are on the same page when it comes to that word. why not just post maps that are new for everyone?

Why if you have nothing at all to say do you not just shut up? That has puzzled me for quite some time.

Since we are talking about new and old maps, I have a couple of questions, if anyone knows:

How many maps existed when this website first started? Jus the Classic or there were more from the beginning?

Which was the first map to introduce bombardments (same for autodeploys)?

Anyone old enough in the site to know?

When I joined (May 2006) I want to say there were somewhere around 20 maps (Not 100% sure, just a guess) Let's put it this way, when I was playing CCU, Circus Maximum, Philippines, King of the mountain, and others were not even established maps yet.
Some of the originals were, Classic, USA, Germany, British Isles, Europe, Brazil?, Discworld i believe, tamriel, I think USApacalypse was in there.
Not fully sure on all of these but you get the idea, there weren't half as many maps being made as there are now, and no where near as many territories on most.
I'm sure there are others who have been playing a while who can set the record straight

This is kind of a frame of reference
viewtopic.php?t=16324
I ran an Iron Man Tournament in 2007 and there were 32 maps Probably 7 or 8 of these were quenched after I started playing. I know some of these were introduced before I started playing so they weren't "Originals" I can't go back far enough to say how many were here at the begin, that's a question for LackAttack :)

the first to use auto-deploys were map 55 Midkemdil (Sun Oct 28, 2007 1:10 am) followed by map 66 Age Of Realms : Magic (Wed Dec 19, 2007 6:33 am)
