Ratings Revenge

In general, unless someone has made a total joke out of a game, I give everyone a five star rating on every aspect. It is simply because I'm too lazy to check each person and their moves, but there is a bit of sense to it. The rating system kind of suggests this method. We all ignore the generic ratings, ie full stars, and focus on the negative ones.
My negative ones are generally: rude and complainer. I'm happy with those, as this complaint shows. Of course we get to respond to our negative ratings, but cannot rate back until the next game is over. Some players prevent this by foeing you. People foe you for many reasons, and I'm limiting this to gross abuses of the rating system coupled with foeing.
And I don't mean to single anyone out, but I will give an example to start the thread in the right direction.
I have won seven of ten of the games I played with Afroaction, all under conditions he set in creating the game. He tags me with cheap tactics and poor strategy and then foes me. Which to me is a cheap tactic. But I don't wish to be judgmental. Lacking the chance to beat him yet again at his own game or provide a fair rating back, instead Imimagine smearing his orifices with female walrus pherohormones during mating season and recording him being pleasured by the bulls and to use as a gif for my avatar, with all due respect.
I'm am deeply saddened that this is not possible. But pleased by the idea. Further more, I think this should be a tag available under ratings. Please add your own suggestions for rating tag updates and I will try to get a poll going. Please use this thread to express your frustration only on those who meet the above criteria.

I got someone warned for this abuse about a year ago but I can't remember how now. It takes a pretty big burden of proof but its really the only way to fight it.

I know I'm new to this, but this is already bothering me. I enter a game, greet the other player, they don't respond, they give me bad Attitude ratings... Any advice?

To answer both Giilipig and Skydumper, ratings are of limited importance. Seldom will people consider the ratings in deciding to play you, if ever. They usually come back to haunt you when someone is upset with your play and they reference your ratings as a source of attack on you. I think even in this case the actual stars someone gives you are of the least importance, because it may reflect their special rating criteria. In general, it's your overall rating that you carry around with you and specific reoccurring derogatory tags that will either provide fuel for someone who doesn't like your play or affect your ability to acquire a good teammate.
ATM, you only have 4 ratings, so soon the 3.9 should rise and if anyone judges you based on your current rating, they aren't researching you well enough to make a justifiable ctitique on you.
Often people use ratings to express their anger and when I look into someone's ratings I will look at which games they were based on. You seem quite capable and I'm sure you will do well. Just don't expect that good play will result in good ratings. One of my favorites is all ones with the tag of bully. We had only played two one on one games, one of which he/she had won, leaving the person with plus 8 points or something from the two games. I guess I was a bully for not attacking neutral more...

You seriously might want to reconsider your post.
As to being unable to revenge rating, well from a moderation point of view, that would be prevered. After all someone can be an arse and give you a lower then expected rating, but it can(more or less ) be justified.
revenge ratings cannot be justified or tolerated. ever. Not even if i like it, but i do feel for you, cause i have been there. So how about a, report this rating, button.. it allows you to easely complain about a rating you have been given.

Interesting point of view. You suggest that someone who is upset by you can take it out on you and then foe you to prevent the same being done back to him/her. And their actions are justified, while performing the same action as they did can never be justified.
What if I don't like to be called a complainer so much? Your suggested rating complaint button could help this. Just a simple click away to complain about being called a complainer, right?
This complaint would then be be forwarded to an objective moderator, such as yourself, who already feels that any rating is justifiable and any attempt at expression regarding this rating is unjustifiable. Then the moderator such as yourself could come back to me and say you should seriously reconsider your complaint against this rating, because I feel for you.
Well let's do a poll and get this approved site wide so that CC can then ignore it. Or provide it without any teeth.
You may be interested in an episode on Freakonomics which showed how people were finally made to stop over using water during a drought. They were shamed publicly. Of course, here this could never be tolerated, since it actually works and instead silly punitive measures which detract from CCs available resources should be enacted which will continue to fail, as this allows CC to confine the content of the site and prevent people who have publicly abused others from having the same happen to them.

Is it legal to give someone 1-stars in the expected that they will give you 1-stars?
And suppose they give you 3-stars, so you withdraw your 1-stars rating on them.
Would all the above be legitimate and/or legal?

Not much you can do. Some people are just nasty that way. Luckily, they are in the minority. After a while, the overwhelming majority that are friendly and decent will make you forget about the few that aren't.

For the record I don't care about ratings anymore as any kind of reflection on me as a player but we aren't talking about those players who don't care about rating system. If a player is obviously and purposely vindictive in their rating as some sort of passive aggressive act for having lost, they are indeed abusing the rating system. To those people who actually bother with the rating system these things do matter, obviously, or they wouldn't take the time to rate others at all.

To BigBallinStalin: if I expected a one star rating, I would expect it because I had messed up a multiplayer game quite badly, or ignored my teammates, thereby helping the opposing team to divide and conquer us, or in a one player game where chat got nasty.
I wouldn't expect it when we'd been been exchanging wins in one on one games with no adverse game chat. And even if I did expect it, you are right in that I probably wouldn't base my rating of them on it, if I rated them at all.
My mother always told me to use sticks and stones to break the bones of those that try to use words to hurt you. If its true, it's not derogatory. If it's false, but I'm not foed, I can enjoy beating the player more, making my momma proud. If its false, and I'm foed, there is no available outlet, except the forum.

Illegal and punishable with death in all countries except Norway. Do you want to confess something?

I've found that the only people who give 1 star ratings are sore losers. I challenge anyone here to prove me wrong.
