Actually it's even harder than that in multiplayer games. Having identified Mr Hothead, you then have to orchestrate a campaign by the other players to irritate him, while presenting yourself as his only friend. Then sit back and watch him suicide into your opponents.

I would say yeah its decidedly useless since I generally opt to attack them out of pure principle and of course, to shut them up.
