It relatively balances out.

-Attacker rolls more dice.
-Defender wins ties.

So either one is good, although it leans slightly more towards defense, which wins ties.

WRONG.

Attacker has the advantage. A very small one, but an advantage none the less.

With the dice we have, attacking can be a real pain in the rear sometimes. My suggestion is just to be careful with your attacks and always take your time. Auto attack works pretty well sometimes but I've had a few occassions where 12 v 3 goes down to 3 v 2. Don't use it unless ur 100% sure you need to cap that territory.

This is true provided the attacker has enough armies so he can roll at least one more die than the defender.

That's the crux of the matter. The attacker throws one less die than the number of armies on a territory (capped at a maximum of three), the defender throws one die for each army on a territory (capped at a maximum of two).

If you're throwing one more dice than the defender, you have the advantage.
If you're throwing the same number of dice as the defender, the defender has the advantage.
If you're throwing fewer dice than the defender, you're committing suicide, or you're in such desperate straights that it's either succeed or die.

Once, and only once, I took on a country that had 3 armies, with my country that had 2 armies and successfully broke his 5 bonus continent. But I think it's payback, I'm struggling just to win 1 armies countries with 3 die these days. :?
