Greatest Weakness (and does it reflect your nature?)

My greatest weakness as a players is that when down - particuarly if my early is strategy is ruined by comedy dice - I tend to rather give up the ghost. Is it possible to come back for the situation? Maybe. Would a better player hang in there? Definitely. Yet I admit I tend to rapidly lose interest in the game and give it up in a rather half-hearted fashion. Strangely, once a team game is a few rounds in and gets difficult, I'll fight like the proverbial tiger. It is the early hammer blow that knocks me for six.

This certainly reflects my nature. If I can't do something (anything) easily and well, I tend to get frustrated easily...and give up. Or look for someone else to sort it out.

So this is a weakness both in my general nature and my CC play.

Mine is sometimes I tend not to think things through thoroughly or I will make a play that I know probably won't work just because I like to gamble from time to time. Oddly enough this is somewhat opposite to my nature in real life, as my biggest weakness is not being assertive or taking a calculated risk at times when it would help me.

Happens surprisingly often in the real world.

Sometimes, you just got to stand up, pull down your trousers, and show 'em what you're made of.

Changsha, I used to have exact same problem. BUt then I STOPPED playing 1 v 1s! I would only play Team games, because then it would be worth it to keep playing even after the comedy dice for the sake of my team mate.

But even better, now I become so good in a map, that I mostly don't get comedy dice because of a high volume of troops being used (not HIGH but you know, somewhat high). SO I know that I can make a comeback. I just don't play risky maps/strategies that holds the risk of comedy dice.

For example, CConquer Rome with Unlimited fort and Escalating really really helps me to make easy come backs again and again. WWII Poland somewhat allows comebacks - you know. But I would NEVER play 1 v 1 Classic and then hope for a comeback........it won't happen :)

My greatest weakness as a player is that I am usually many times more intelligent than the opponents, so they sometimes do not understand my strategies and chat, because I cannot explain them in a manner in which they can understand. I simply know things, that I assume are self-evident, and do not know how to dumb it down for them.

Well, its either that or an over-abundance of humility.

If you're explaining your strategy to your opponents I guess it's a good thing they don't understand it.

That's actually a good point...among others that could be noted. I was actually more referring to debates in the game chat after games were decided though...beyond the obnoxious/arrogant act.

This is a no brainer for me. My greatest weakness is not taking my turns! I've dropped down to private 4 or 5 times in total because a lack of it.

great introspective thread Mr.C...

okay... my greatest weakness?

mnnnnnnnn.......

I'm still thinking here...

wow... this is really tough...

But i will say that i tend to draw too much attention to myself in game chat..
As Dr. Seuss once wrote,
I am who I am and I say what I feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Then you should be apologizing for your strengths instead.

never said that it SHOULD be that way,,, ;)

Weakness is attractive in babies, be they boys or girls...
but this should slowly decline as they grow and become less vulnerable.

I kinda like weaknesses. If she's bad at something I'm good at then I just think it's cute. If she doesn't know anything about computers for example. That'll be a great opportunity for me to get in the role of someone knowledgeable and teach her a few things. Of course it's only cute until she gets a mental breakdown for not understanding how to shut off the computer when it gets stuck. Hysteric girls + computers = not cute

Hmmm... I think mine would be that I mouth off too much if someone pisses me off. If I could only learn to *zip it*, and keep playing, I could stay under the radar so much easier.

What can I say, I like to hit stupidity with a hammer when I see it pop up its ugly head...

My greatest weakness is avoid complex maps, mostly because I think they'll be too difficult to learn or to learn and have fun playing. So I usually don't play very well on such maps if I managed to stumble into such a game.

Gaming styles i am basically rubbish at...

1. Standard escalating: I've read about it, I've tried it and I've even attempted to think about it a bit...but it is a style my brain simply refuses to wrap itself around. On a basis of gaining territories early that allows you to then prosecute your advantage I get it, but the high level methods used currently that ignores territory gains and bonuses makes no sense to me at all. Don't try and explain it to me...I honestly believe me mind is incapable of processing it.

2. Complicated maps (anything by quert): Bombardment points, division or general bonuses, tanks, planes and ships, aggressive neutrals..I look at these maps, I am capable of understanding them, but I fail to see how my strategies for Risk can be applied to them. Partly it is due to the map looking so horribly crowded that puts me off, but i suspect it is more a case of my poor old brain (which is not the best tactically even on traditional maps) being rather crap at coping with all the tactical possibilities these maps provide.

3. 2on2 Dubs: My record is surprisingly patchy on this form...as in a touch below 50 percent. This is partly caused by my often 'trying out things' (i.e maps) on this form, but I do believe my team game strategy is basically designed for trips and doesn't seem to work out properly on this form. I always feel I am missing some weapons when I play dubs. Large map dubs has the same issue for me as small map trips, in that the first round is often too decisive for my tastes. A definite weakness.

4. Fog: While I am capable of just about holding my own at speed fog, the casual game is beyond me because I lack the kind of brain able to analyse a log and work out where people are and what they are up to. I am literally and completely 'in the fog' when I play these games...a genuine baby on the field. Again, is it that I haven't tried hard enough at this form? I don't think so. Our brains are all wired in different ways, and this is yet another style I consider myself too thick to play.

5. Freestyle. It still takes me about 10 seconds PER THROW, never mind to conquer a territory. While the freestyle whizz kid (and I probably incorrectly assume they are usually young) is zipping through the territories, I am still contemplating my first roll, how my karma has been these days, did I think positively enough, should I exit and re enter the game again to catch a better luck stream...and by then the game is over.

Now my standard response over the years has always been to try and get these forms removed from CC because basically I am not very good at them. On that basis they offend me terribly. Nonetheless, I am more than prepared to admit I am too stupid to play them adequetly and, I think, it would do no one any harm to accept that the reason they don't like certain maps or styles of the game is most probably due to that they are too stupid to play them properly.
