"Secret" diplomacy is forbidden, and chat must go through the chat box. If it's a team game however, is team 1 allowed to co ordinate attacks outside of the chat box? Since it is already known that they are allies and would be working together.
I can't find anything that specifically addresses my question in the rules,
Thanks,
Slock.

In team games the "show this message to teammates only" box is always ticked so you can chat with your team mate in the chat box and it wont be visible to anyone else....it would look like so...
2012-04-07 12:12:43 - IR1SH ACE [team]: Conch: 2 on Great Bear Lake & hope the Artic Ocean 2 go down so you'll have 4 to fort
the bracket [team] means only my team can see this in the chat....if you want to say something to everyone else in the game you need to uncheck the "show this message to teammates only" box and your message will be visible to all in the game...
Same thing goes for Standard Non-team games the box is always unchecked and if you want to leave some notes about the game for yourself then tick the box and message hidden
also u can use other forums of chat/messaging tools...I play a lot of team games with RL friends so we would chat on skype when taking important moves.....hope this helps

Yes, you can coordinate attacks anyway you want with your team members. Doesn't have to be via the chat.

Ahh okay, might have helped if I'd actually played a team game before asking! Thanks all the same

Yup, team chat is only visible to your own teammates. Just don't uncheck the Team Chat button by mistake. =)
Other folks use MSN, Skype, or Live Chat to coordinate attacks. It's not secret diplomacy because you guys are known to be working together. That's the whole point of team games, after all.
